It isn’t unless it gets added to an album/EP before Sept. 30th.

I emailed NARAS about a hypothetical case if “a song released in last year’s eligibility period is eligible to be submitted this year under any circumstances” and they replied:

If song was a single released in last year’s eligibility period, it would need to be part of an album released in the current eligibility period in order for it to be eligible this year. In other words, if its still a standalone single this current period, it would not be eligible.

If the song was part of an album that was released in last year’s eligibility period, it would be eligible in the current period. This would be the last Awards year to submit it.

Well, apparently WAP needs to be submitted as part of an album track this eligibility period in order to be eligible.

So Cardi must release an album for WAP to happen.

What are the chances of Cardi’s album actually dropping before September 30th? I know she’s now pregnant so promo would be difficult. I wonder how much of the album is done. I thought we’d have gotten another single by now after Up in February, but nothing. It would be a good idea for the third single to drop in August & the album in September. The race needs a good shake up.

If Cardi, Drake & Kendrick drop before the end of eligibility period then I’d be willing to argue the BRA nominees would be completely different. Can see it being a 6-way race between Cardi/Drake/Kendrick/Megan/Cole/Tyler. But that’s if the three of them even drop lol

I honestly wouldn’t know but I’m kinda expecting them to capitalize on WAP and yes I agree with a single dropping this August and then maybe the album in September.

Also  I think Kanye West might drop before those 3 lol. (shocking). Kanye’s album (“Donda”) is rumored to drop maybe within the next few weeks. That is of course if he doesn’t postpone again 😅

But I think we might get a couple releases before the end of the eligibility period. I think imo, this is going to be a much stronger year for Rap.

“WAP” missing eligibility would be a waste. It could easily win.

If the album isn’t ready Atlantic should simply release an EP with the song on it.

MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video

“SORRY NOT SORRY” is definitely not missing the Rap Field. DJ Khaled x JAY-Z x Nas x James Fauntleroy is Grammy bait.

Honey, since Lil Nas X got in Best Rap/Sung Performance, “Industry Baby” should have no problem getting in Best Melodic Rap Performance.

“Astronaut in the Ocean” is a locked nominee in Best Rap Performance. A lot of you need to revise these predictions.
