She was foolish if she submitted anything other than “Respect.”

I was wondering why she wasn’t pushing for that song in the first place

    My Predictions

Best R&B Performance- Leave the Door Open- Silk Sonic

Best Traditional R&B Performance- Fight for You- H.E.R.

Best R&B Song- Leave the Door Open- Silk Sonic

Best Progressive R&B album- Dinner Party Dessert

Best R&B Album: We Are- Jon Batiste

I’m really rooting for Jazmine. I think there’s a possibility she might win in R&B performance over Silk Sonic, but I doubt it.

Here I Am (Singing My Way Home) is the song that would be competing for the Oscars!

I feel that the Grammys are really starting to be strict with what is entered in Progressive R&B. Don’t be surprised if Summer Walker is placed in R&B Album next year.

What makes you think her album would be placed in R&B Album next year if she is nominated?

Because “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” is competing at the Oscars in Original Song. Duh!

Lol oh ok. I don’t follow the Oscars 😭

Don’t know where the label submitted, but I know it ended up Progressive R&B, which it shouldn’t have been in from the get-go. There’s nothing “progressive” about Over It.

What makes you think her album would be placed in R&B Album next year if she is nominated?

Because of the nominees we have this year. And Summer’s music is easily “just” R&B. No progressive sounds on it. That’s why everything else was stuck in R&B Album this year.

She wasn’t/isn’t. “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” is the only original song for the film, is an Original Song contender at the Oscars, and has been lauded by music journalists, in part, due to Carole King’s contribution. It would be foolish of her not to submit that song.

It got in Visual Media Song. “Respect” was always going to be the more likely nominee in Traditional R&B Performance since, well, people actually know the song and probably heard at least a snippet of Jennifer’s version in trailers.

The answer to that is easy. It’ll either be Robert Glasper & Co. or Lucky Daye. The race is only between those two.

I wouldn’t rule out a Masego upset. He’s been buzzing online for some years and he’s very much a “musician’s musician”, if you know what I mean.

love him to death but I don’t think he can beat Robert Glasper. That being said, everyone should def listen to his project, it’s so good
