AMAs need to seriously change up their entire show. Fan voted social media awards are always a snore when it is the obvious same 3 big artists rotating the prize (Taylor, BTS, Harry). I looked up the ratings comparisons of the AMAs and Grammys and was shocked to see that throughout from the 80s to mid 90s AMAs used to routinely get more viewers than the Grammys. The show was actually an event.

The Variety article stated that the AMAs currently have no broadcast partner, which is worrying but I think that not being tied down right now is a step in the right direction to making them relevant again…

If I worked for AMAs here is what I would do:
    – Secure a contract with a streaming broadcast partner. It is 2023 and no one is watching TV. Netflix, Amazon, and Apple are investing millions into live streaming, so the options are there.
    – Move the show to January/February right before the Grammys. This makes the show feel more important as it is dead-centre in the middle of awards season, and of course makes it seem like a viable Grammys threat.
    – Throw out fan voting and switch to some type of industry voting. Whether it’s a small panel of 20 musicians or a group of music critics (à la Golden Globes), it will yield better winners and not predictable nonsense.

All of my suggestions would make the AMAs better not only for fans at home viewing, but for us Grammy predictors who desperately want an actual pre-cursor to the Grammys lol.

American Music Awards has to be fan voted. This is the main idea – give the vote to the public. This is America’s choice basically. What they need to change is the voting system. Twitter hashtags and spams need to go.

Taylor and BTS winning every year even when they don’t deserve it is really boring

At least we don’t have to deal with another boring sweep by Taylor Swift. They need to switch back to industry voting with select awards being fan-voted.

So I heard the news…Lol. See you guys in May 2024. I won’t see @TaylorNation13 cheating and spamming this Fall. But the 2023 BBMAs and PCAs may be a problem. In any case, No AMAs this year. Times are changing.

The way they care and are bothered by her winning these irrelevant fan voted awards is truly pathetic. Their hatred for her is mind boggling.

Congratulations 12 Time Grammy Winner Taylor Swift!

AMAs aren’t really fan voted. It’s just a gimmick to get online engagement from ravenous fan bases that spend 95% of their time on social media. They pick & choose who wins at the end of the day. The performance line ups are usually what makes this show unique.

If the AMAs aren’t truly fan voted, then why are we always subjected to a Taylor Swift sweep every award show? I feel like there are way too many fan voted shows out there. If these awards want to compete with the Grammys, then they need to have some industry input. For some reason, they think fan involvement means more viewers. Obviously, not the case.
