Since Renaissance has successfully been nominated for Dance Album, do y’all think albums like Chromatica and Future Nostalgia would’ve had the same fate if submitted there?
Chromatica would have 100% being nominated and won Best Dance Electronic Album in 2021 without the committees
Saddly I don’t see Gaga releasing another dance album in the near future…
Is Adele even that much of a fan favorite anymore though? I don’t hear much about her.
I heard her name 7 times on Grammy nominations day, if that gives you a little clue of her industry support

Ha. I agree and I think this will work against RENAISSANCE.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 12:19 pm #1205159446Adele isn’t going empty-handed even if she wanted to – Music Film, Pop Solo and Song of the Year are given, and Record will likely go easy on her as well. (yeah, pun intended)
This time around, though, I see Harry stronger for Pop Vocal Album. I have him for AOTY as well, given Songwriter and Engineering nods and, unfortunately, I don’t have Beyoncé at #2 neither. The self-titled and mainly Lemonade losses ran out my hopes to see her winning.
BMV is a completely open race between Adele, Harry, Taylor and Kendrick. After Jon Batiste managed to win anything could happen.

(note: I didn’t expect “Montero” to win, was going with Gaga/Tony. Maybe in another lifetime Grammy voters will award a video where a black gay man twerks on devil’s lap)November 18, 2022 at 1:41 pm #1205159518Honey, NOTHING can save the Grammys tanking viewership. No one watches television anymore. Moreover, folks know the Grammys are racist as fuck. With the shady snubbing of The Weeknd, rigging of nominees, and nominating Beyoncé in the General Field a shitload of times only for her to continuously lose Album of the Year. People ain’t about that life! The public is sick and tired of seeing white women, like Taylor Swift, always winning the big one. The Grammys lost credibility years ago.
wow what a racist post. Taylor wins because she is an album artist. Beyonce has not won because why? You may not like Fearless, but it is the most awarded country album in the history of country music, and it continued to chart on BB200 for years and years. IASF did not. You can’t argue that Fearless was not deserving. Lemonade vs Adele 25 was closer, but are you really arguing that Adele 25 was not as deserving? They were very close and could have gone either way on that one. Again, as monumental as Lemonade was it surely didn’t continue to chart either for more than 2 years. Finally, you have a point with Beyonce’ losing to a WHITE MAN Beck. That was nonsense. Instead of blaming WHITE WOMAN and naming names, think about the real loss which was in 2015 to a man. And don’t be blaming Taylor either. Folklore was the only real contender besides FN and to say 1989 was not deserving is just nonsense.

Self titled should have won, and Lemonade was pretty equal to 25 and could have gone either way. I don’t think its as open as you think. Renaissance will take this. And I believe BMS will get ROTY. It is possible that Easy on Me takes SOTY, but I’m going for ATW10 and feel like this is not a contest and quite possibly the easiest category to predict. Adele will take pop vocal performance, Harry will take pop album and pop song.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 1:57 pm #1205159556Ha. I agree and I think this will work against RENAISSANCE.
This. I have said for years that I think this is taken into consideration by voters. How can you compare an album with 10 total contributors vs an album with 100. It diminishes the role of the main artist. If you look at the past 12 years, the avg number of writers is 8. compare that with some of these with 78 writers, then I just don’t know if that merits an AOTY win.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 2:07 pm #1205159568Other than Joe Alwyn, who is now an AOTY winner, I’ve seen some other interesting song-writing and production credits and nominations. Scooter Braun is listed as a song-writer on Justin Bieber’s AOTY nominated album Justice and Ron Perry (CEO of Columbia) has credits on at least one BTS song, although in fairness to him, he’s known to be a decent guitarist and performed with Post Malone at Coachella 2016 and other performances, so at least he has some history as an actual musician.
Joe is a trained musician, he is not a professional one, but he lives with one of the best. She can take something he is playing with and turn it into a song. Those >100 people getting credit for other albums, some were in the room, some had an idea, some picked up the lunch, some did not a thing. At least Joe Alwyn started the piano, Taylor made them into songs. And, just because someone isn’t a professional musician, doesn’t mean that they cannot be a part of a record in a significant way. Taylor had Dylan OBrien playing drums on Midnights and he’s not a professional musician. Joe Alwyn also plays piano on her albums and wrote the piano parts for several songs. That’s how they became songs. duh.

November 18, 2022 at 2:16 pm #1205159579Exactly. Except I hope AoTY went to others.
someone tell me why As it Was or Easy on Me should be ROTY. Argue this please because I see no way either of them are winning that category. What is your reasoning.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 2:25 pm #1205159592When I saw that Taylor didin’t get all the nominations expected I wondered if the whole 20 album version thing may have contributed to some people not voting for her. I read that some in the industry were tossing some shade over it. I wonder if that will have any impact on her chances of winning. I’m admittedly not all that familiar with this kind of thing since I haven’t really followed the Grammy politics too closely. Does anyone know if this could have a potential impact?
not sure I understand your question. Red TV was re-recorded so she can own her work. it is definitely worthy of a nominiation, but the original Red had been nominated previously and RedTV was not going to win. So, while eligible to be nominated, i’m not surprised or upset that it did not get an AOTY nom. And, I think she got the noms that were expected, at least from my standpoint. While I thought Red TV would get a AOTY nom, I didn’t expect ROTY. I think her chances of winning SOTY & music video are very high. Country song I doubt she will win, and song for visual media is a toss up. I actually think it is the better Oscar contender between these songs rather than Grammy song. so, I doubt it will win song for visual media. I predict 2 wins.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 2:38 pm #1205159609I’m all for the Beyonce’ GF love, but legitimate question, is “REANAISSANCE” truly the album for which we want her winning her first AOTY Grammy?
Anything previous to this does not matter. They don’t give out grammy’s to make amends with fans who got upset. It doesn’t have to be her BEST album, it has to be the BEST album this year. And IMO it is. The only thing that will hurt her, as always, is the number of songwriters and producers. it diminishes the contribution of the artist who’s name is front and center, and it diminishes their impact. While I think it still will win AOTY, if it doesn’t… it will be because of the # of songwriters. The avg for winners is 8. Hers is…..>50? If I were judging, I would definitely take that into consideration.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 18, 2022 at 2:59 pm #1205159637Who’s gonna split more votes; Adele or Beyonce? Adele got Harry, Lizzo, Coldplay , ABBA and Beyonce got Mary J Blige and Kendrick ( Kendrick is gonna have rap votes but R&B can vote for him too.)

November 18, 2022 at 3:26 pm #1205159668Does the entire membership vote in each individual category? Are there panels? Juries? For example who votes in the Pop categories? Only pop branch voters? Who votes in R and B? Who votes in the country categories? How many voters we talking here?
