Muni Long is easily getting into BNA and R&B.

Honey, let’s NOT lie to ourselves.  Even though “Hrs and Hrs” hit the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song feels forgotten.  Her EP is a gigantic flop.

Muni Long could easily get snubbed in R&B.  She’s up against strong competition.  Her best shot at a nomination is in the pathetically weak Best New Artist.

Muni can miss but for now I think she’s safe for a nomination somewhere. Whether it be General Field or in R&B. Who I want to get snubbed is Silk Sonic but I know that won’t happen.

    Updated predictions:

    R&B Performance:

Muni Long – Hrs & Hrs
    Lucky Daye – Over
Silk Sonic – Smokin Out the Window
    Jazmine Sullivan – Roster
Summer Walker & Ari Lennox – Unloyal

    Traditional R&B Performance:

PJ Morton feat. Jill Scott & Alex Isley – Still Believe
Robert Glasper feat. Gregory Porter & Ledisi – It Don’t Matter
Jazmine Sullivan – Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child
Tank and the Bangas f/ Lalah Hathaway & Jacob Collier – Where Do We All Go
Mary J. Blige feat. H.E.R – Good Morning Gorgeous

    R&B Song:

    Bad Habit – Steve Lacy
    DFMU – Ella Mai
Hrs & Hrs – Muni Long
    Over – Lucky Daye
Smokin Out the Window – Silk Sonic

    R&B Album:

Mary J. Blige – Good Morning Gorgeous
Silk Sonic – An Evening With Silk Sonic
Robert Glasper – Black Radio III
PJ Morton – Watch the Sun
Tank and the Bangas – Red Balloon

    Progressive R&B Album:

    Beyoncé – Renaissance
    Chris Brown – Breezy
    Brent Faiyaz – Wasteland
    Steve Lacy – Gemini Rights
Summer Walker – Still Over It

“Hrs & Hrs” is still top 10 on R&B radio after several months. Just say you have the same bias you had for H.E.R. and you don’t like her. That has nothing to do with her chances at Grammy glory. You made the same mistake with H.E.R. in her “debut” year.

Honey, Muni Long did NOT make any noise. Since R&B is very competitive (far from weak), a snub may be a coming.

Someone please find the world where Muni Long & Hrs & Hrs didn’t make any noise🤔. Maybe it didn’t make noise over there in Gaga land but everywhere else, it did😂

Beyoncé & Silk Sonic can get in everywhere. R&B voters love them along with their go to’s (PJ Morton & Robert Glasper) for nominations in select categories. I really hope Break My Soul competes in Pop (even though it’s doing well on R&B Charts too).

I’m a bit trepidatious predicting The Isley Brothers. The Grammys have snubbed them quite a bit over the years. A Beyoncé feature might help but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re snubbed.

I feel like Bey won’t storm the R&B field as we are all expecting. Besides Progressive R&B album she can miss in the other 3 categories.

Cuff It deserves to win though.

There’s no way, after the Black Parade storm (mind you, that was WITH the committee) and with no panel, that you would even consider Beyonce missing any of the categories that isn’t on the basis of semi-trolling or just misguided low-balling.

I don’t see Beyoncé missing. Even if Cuff It doesn’t get any noms, I do see Be Alive having a greater chance too.

Summer Walker might be the most vulnerable here. We’ll finally see if R&B voters truly love her or not. It’s crazy how Over It got snubbed so badly but that had to be the panel’s doing.

If Beyoncé is nominated in Best Progressive R&B Album, she will undoubtedly win. There’s been so many good albums in that category this year though. Would’ve loved for Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz or Ella Mai to have took it home.

Same with R&B Album – I would personally love Giveon to win, but Silk Sonic are taking it.

Do you think Beyoncé will get a nomination in all 3 R&B song/performance categories?

I can see her submissions being something like this:

Best R&B Performance – Cuff It (or Virgo’s Groove?)
Best R&B Song – Cuff It (or Be Alive?)
Best Traditional R&B Performance – Make Me Say It Again Girl (with the Isley Brothers)

I could also see Plastic Off The Sofa in Traditional R&B.

She can’t be nominated twice in traditional R&b. That’s a performance category.
