Beyoncé kind of flopped on Billboard this era.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 1, 2022 at 2:40 pm #1205174372Honey, “kind of flopped” is an understatement. Beyoncé’s album sales were NOT a good look this era. Renaissance needed to sell 21 and 25 numbers to win Album of the Year.

Beyoncé’s sales are fine. She has never been a blockbuster seller like Drake, Adele or Taylor.

December 1, 2022 at 3:19 pm #1205174427I love that we view sales as success for everyone but Taylor.
Beyoncé winning AotY would piss off absolutely no one…but weirdos on music threads.

Don’t be too hard on Gucci.

dude I’ve been saying this for years. Leading up to folklore’s win, people on here were saying that Taylor would receive backlash and that such win would cause an uproar. At the end of the day no one cared nor had a meltdown except Clownderby.

December 1, 2022 at 5:27 pm #1205174576As with Record and Song of the Year, this year’s Grammy race for Album of the Year features several releases that were both commercially successful and at least generally well-received by critics and music aficionados.
As a result, predicting winners will be a very challenging exercise.
Oddsmakers nonetheless did make a first attempt, calling Adele’s “30” and Beyonce’s “Renaissance” co-favorites for Album of the Year.
Adele’s “30” +150

Beyonce’s “Renaissance” +150
Harry Styles’ “Harry’s House” +250
Kendrick Lamar’s “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” +650
Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti” +1500
Brandi Carlile’s “In These Silent Days” +2200
Lizzo’s “Special” +3300
ABBA’s “Voyage” +3300
Mary J. Blige’s “Good Morning Gorgeous” +4000
Coldplay’s “Music Of The Spheres” +5000December 1, 2022 at 5:38 pm #1205174597How exactly does Renaissance constitute as a ‘flop’? It reached #1 & spawned a chart topping single. “Cuff It” is also performing extremely well. Mind you, there’s been NO promo. It’s longevity is it’s success.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 1, 2022 at 7:56 pm #1205174710what? It makes no sense. Are you retarded?
30 was released in november 2021, the beginning of the year end chart tracking period. the tracking period is november to october, meaning that all of 30s biggest weeks were within the period + the rest of its weeks. other albums like harry’s house wouldve probably taken it’s spot had it been released at the beginning of the tracking period

her sales are nothing different than what we’ve seen from her in the past decade, + renaissance was released late into the tracking period

yeah i’m shocked at how many weeks it spent too 10💀just compare it’s top 10 weeks to chromatica
ReplyCopy URLDecember 1, 2022 at 8:13 pm #1205174722Renaissance is a huge success, especially for somebody that’s been a heavyweight in the industry for 25 years.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 2, 2022 at 8:11 am #1205175183If Beyonce loses again, I think we can officially declare some shenanigans in regards to how the Academy views her. How can you reward her more than any other artist in history but still not think she’s worthy of AOTY. I know she’s been up against Adele each time, but damn, it would seem very pointed.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 2, 2022 at 3:46 pm #1205176250‘Renaissance’ problem is not its sales, but remain the credits-samples, even without samples there are too many people credited on it, the Record Academy should make like 500 Grammys to award all the people involved on that record.
It’s pretty clear that Beyoncé is an artist that rely on writing camps, alone can barely write her own name and the industry is aware of that.
