Well, the backlash has already started even with the DOUBT of Beyoncé not winning Album of the Year. NYT has just published a piece on how it’s her time more than ever. Beyoncé losing AOTY once again: now, THAT would look really bad. No one cares about any other artist this year. It’s Beyoncé’s time. https://www.nytimes.com/svc/oembed/html/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2023%2F02%2F02%2Farts%2Fmusic%2Fgrammy-awards-beyonce.html#?secret=Zd5dg4B4DO
The public would be happy with Adele winning. This backlash would only come from stans online lol.

Press and Twitter are absolutely obsessed with her winning this AOTY and they will hate any other result. Get ready to learn hundreds of articles about how racist and sexist the Recording Academy is.

« Deserving women and poc » but As it Was is the biggest hit of the year easily so… don’t put race and sex into it

Race and sex shouldn’t be brought into it, but neither should numbers. This is the Grammys, Billboard Music Awards are in May.

I know, but As it Was is not a bad song.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 2, 2023 at 8:58 am #1205280836It’s 2023 and so-called music experts still predict a ROTY/SOTY split. Do they actually watch the cerimony?
The last time it happened was 1995 with Sheryl Crow (ROTY) and Bruce Springsteen (SOTY).

2 years ago HER won Song of the Year and Billie Eilish won Record of the Year

Who will complain about Kendrick Lamar winning though? he’s just as overdue and acclaimed as Beyoncé
The GP won’t complain about Adele winning neither (I know twitter will). Most people think that both Adele and Beyoncé have won too many Grammys, it doesn’t matter the categories. In fact 2 years ago Beyoncé was celebrated as the woman with most Grammy wins ever while they see Adele winning Grammys every 6 or 5 years.

But we are talking about split between nominees that were in both ROTY and SOTY
HER wasn’t nominated in ROTY
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 2, 2023 at 9:10 am #1205280861I think if Beyonce wins this category, it will be the support of pop field. Yes, pop field this time will rally around Beyonce. Not Adele, not Harry.
Also these critics all hype around a Beyonce win, they didn’t do it with Kendrick Lamar when all the years he participated. Only Billboard write that Grammys hate hip-hop.
