If pop album is televised it means that Adele or Harry lost AOTY against another artist from other genre (like when Olivia lost AOTY against Jon Batiste)
Or that the winner of pop album are 2 different pop artists (like it happened with Taylor and Dua in 2021)
Or it means that Adele is sweeping lmfao.

If you’re talking about me (assuming you are), I can promise you now that S.O.S should absolutely wipe Midnights with ease next year. The quality of those 2 albums isn’t even comparable. Shocking to most of you here, but you can ride for an artist and also be objective when they make work that doesn’t meet the standard they’ve set for themselves. (Hence why Renaissance, which is Beyoncé operating at an insanely high caliber, should take this over 30, which at best is Adele regurgitating the same album she already won twice for.)

Literally. Swifties are notoriously problematic when it comes to supporting other artists, but especially Black artists, so I don’t know where this narrative that Swifties are dick-riding for Beyoncé just so Adele loses is coming from.

Bruno did it best, he mentioned all the other 4 nominees briefly (Kendrick, Jay-Z, Lorde and Gambino) after he won for 24k Magic and he had like the lowest acclaim between the 5 nominess but still he was so proud of his win like he should.

In 2016, no Pop categories were presented during the telecast because each winner won a category in the General Field as well. AOTY & BPVA, ROTY & BP/DGP, SOTY & BPSP.
In 2017, Adele only had AOTY-ROTY-SOTY televised. The same happened to Bruno Mars in the R&B field the following year.
At least in 2012 there was an excuse for BPSP being televised: Adele submitted a different song in the General Field.

It’s a completely different case when the AOTY winner is not a Pop album or not an A-lister. Bruno Mars has been the only recent example of a non-Pop AOTY winner who didn’t have their field win televised. Taylor & Jon lost so they don’t count.
Their field win is televised because producers may not be 100% sure that they won AOTY beforehand. Fine, they do know lmao, but the audience needs to be familiar with the “””obscure””” artist like Beck or Kacey Musgraves when they win AOTY.

Nah they definitely do know on the day the Grammy’s are happening. I mean look at last year, how Pop Solo was conveniently televised at a time when we thought Dua Lipa was winning both Pop Solo and ROTY, or how Pop Album was televised when many thought Taylor was gonna win both. Or how Pop Solo was televised in 2021 when people expected Bad Guy to win, and many other examples.
