I doubt very much that the Grammy will not even put the nominees the best new artist to sing in some tribute. This category is important and is highly valued. Without any nominees have this platform to be able to sing it will sound disrespectful on the part of the Grammy with the nominees.
Agree. There is no reason to have a category to recognize new talent and then not show any of the nominees. For a lot of them the Grammys are the unique possibility to be seen by the big public.

Agree. Out of 20 performers? there is no way at least one best new artist nominated must be performing

The Guardian
Will Win: Latto
Could Win: Maneskin
“Of the remaining six, I think Latto, who had a massive hit with Big Energy, has the best chance, or Måneskin, a Gen Z–friendly streaming success who make accessible radio rock.”MetroWeekly
Will Win: Anitta
Could Win: Maneskin or Wet Lag
“Basically, she’s talented, an interesting option, and one who brings some much-needed diversity to the list of past winners. Anitta is not a given, though. In fact, there’s a real chance she won’t win, and there are at least two acts who are vying for the prize as well.”Entertainment Weekly
Frontrunners: Anitta, Muni Long and Maneskin.Country Universe
Will Win: Anitta
Could Win: Latto
“Anitta has been charting hits in Brazil for nearly a decade but has only more recently caught the attention of US markets with her brand of outsized pop; that she’s already an eight-time nominee at the Latin Grammys should give her a slight edge to win over a field with no clear frontrunner. Latto has the biggest hit of anyone here and could win […]”Will Win: Wet Lag

Could Win: Muni Long or Latto
“Judging by the rest of the ballot, there seems to be a surge of support behind Wet Leg, who showed up in both Alternative categories, along with Best Engineered Album and Best Remixed Recording — a sign that they’re catching on across fields, not just among their peers in Alternative. “January 31, 2023 at 7:17 am #1205275792im hoping for muni long i but would be very happy for the anitta stans if anitta wins!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2023 at 7:28 am #1205275801Wet Leg is giving me SZA at the 2018 Grammys. People on the outside believe in them a lot because of the 5 nominations. Anitta, I don’t know what to think, honestly.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2023 at 7:39 am #1205275822Honey, these vehicles need to have a more ambitious view of the winner and evaluate how the Grammy works. How they manipulate things to have a perfect winner. Samara Joy is the perfect model of the gym. A little artist, 23 years old, who is not yet rich or famous and who will be able to always be there with them after an Olivia Rodrigo wins. At the moment, they do not want to be disapproved, but to increase the credibility of the award. I see this path for the winner. Even if I like Anitta, that’s what I see
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2023 at 7:51 am #1205275837If the Grammy didn’t have this history of manipulation or theft, I could even believe in certain things said by the vehicles. Donkey is the one who believes in vehicles and does not look at things for a broader view
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 31, 2023 at 11:24 am #1205276173As of now I am thinking this is a five-way race between Domi & JD Beck, Latto, Muni Long, Måneskin, and Wet Leg.
Anitta stans in this thread are exhibiting embarrassing behavior.

Will Win: Molly Tuttle
“Minus a clear breakout star à la Olivia Rodrigo or Megan Thee Stallion — and with a handful of acts many academy members probably hadn’t heard of until they searched Spotify — this year’s best new artist race is likely to come down to entrenched genre loyalties. If that’s the case, consider that Tuttle, a young bluegrass phenom, has no natural competition for the votes of the academy’s sizable Nashville contingent.”February 1, 2023 at 9:41 am #1205279537I think muni long really won. Everything in Hollywood is pointing to her winning. I was so sure after seeing a full page of her in the variety that is now out with Doja on the cover.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 9:47 am #1205279551Will Win:
“CL: The case for Anitta for Best New Artist is strong; the 29-year-old Brazilian singer and songwriter’s star has been on the rise in recent years, netting collaborations with the likes of Madonna and J. Balvin. Couple that with her social media fame and a studio album.”“MM: While I would love for the Latina to take home the prize, I don’t think it’s going to Anitta. I think Latto is the frontrunner here. She had a massive year with “Big Energy” and got the Mariah Carey co-sign, no small feat. […]”

X: Some of them I didn’t know, which I think is probably true of a lot of people. I voted for Wet Lag because I love how singular it is. I think they could win. Every part of the industry is its own bubble, but in my circle, they have a lot of love. Maneskin feels very kitschy for the Grammys. Muni Long is awesome, but she’s not a new artist in any way. Anitta is not new at all either. I love the Latto single ‘Big Energy’ — that could have been in the record of the year category — but I don’t know if anyone really knows her beyond the song.
Y: I was between Toby Nwigwe and Wet Lag, but I don’t see Toby as a new artist, and I saw Wet Lag as more of a sensational new thing, so I voted for that. Toby’s been around and Maneskin been around — how is that best new artist? Or is it just time for the Grammys to push them forward? Anitta is pretty outstanding, so maybe she’s the one.
Z: This is the easiest answer: Omar Apollo. He stands for the LGBT community and for Latino people and makes the best music. Domi & JD Beck are amazingly talented but feel too niche. The truth is I don’t know a lot of these other people.
