This is so hard to predict. I guess I’m leaning towards Latto right now. How come Anitta has so many votes?

I think this is the most difficult year in this category since Dua Lipa won and it’s not because they are strong… it’s because this was a weak year lmao

None of them had a big year like the previous nominees.
    – Latto, Omar and Anitta had a cute hit, that’s it.
    – Maneskin was bigger last year and they didn’t even make the final cut. Now they are not a factor
    – The rest of the nominees… WHO!!?

Lmao Muni Long literally had a bigger hit in the us than Omar AND Anitta… dare I say even bigger than Latto’s because Big Energy was radio carried

Muni Long lost best new artist to latto at the Bet Awards. I think Muni Long is an amazing vocalist, not to mention that she impacted R&B deeply this year with her music with several certificates. Hoping she wins some R&B category with her amazing music.

    Variety

    Will Win: Anitta

    Daily Mail UK

    Will Win: Latto
“Latto has been ranked high as most likely to win this year with her infectious track Big Energy making waves last year, but Wet Leg is also favored by many fans for their playful approach.”

So, since the nominations came out, I was confident on Wet Leg. And I still think they can really take the award. However, I’ve been thinking a lot about Omar Apollo these days.

Let’s be honest – Omar is super talented, but he certainly had alphabetical privilege to get that nomination. I wasn’t sure about predicting him. But, besides the fact that he’s a sweetie, out of all the nominees, he was the most successful artist during voting. Both commercially and on social media. Also, there’s a very important thing to notice: Omar surely didn’t only receive passion from pop voters, but from a lot of R&B voters as well – genre that got Jon Batiste an AOTY and Silk Sonic both SOTY and ROTY last year.

This year, I’m predicting Omar. And I would love to see it. Anitta, Samara Joy and Wet Leg would also be cool winners.
