Harry is winning Music Video. That I feel confident predicting.

Looking at BMV as a standalone (ignoring its supposed ties to ROTY), Harry should be the clear winner. It is only nominee actually doing SOMETHING and would def the most likely to make it in during the committee era.
That being said, AIW isn’t an amazing video or anything. Just only decent one in a category of mediocrity.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 12, 2023 at 10:15 pm #1205240562Harry just got four Brits noms including Best Song. AIW was also the most streamed song of 2022 on Spotify worldwide.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 13, 2023 at 2:39 am #1205240764Get real! Harry Styles is NOT winning Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and/or Best Music Video. The delusion stops now!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 13, 2023 at 6:20 am #1205240916Everything she did with that silly campaign for a Music Video was bought and paid for. None of it was genuine and none of it helped her “get her foot in the door” as she was laughed at before she was even able to enter the door. Taylor did not get “Oscar buzz” outside of the PR articles her team paid for. Stop this nonsense. Her not even being shortlisted is proof of that.
Eh, I think there was a real discussion about ATW short film. Ultimately the Academy did the right thing because it would set a terrible precedent going forward
Artists saying/doing stupid things to campaign is nothing new. You should know this as a Lady Gaga fan

Lady Gaga didn’t force her way into the conversation like Taylor did, which is exactly why it has paid off for her. Taylor didn’t actually say or do anything stupid, she just tried to put herself into a position she doesn’t yet belong in instead of working her way up the ladder.

January 19, 2023 at 7:27 am #1205253243Just Like That won’t win in a billion years, but despite being the only “non-commercial” nominee, it won’t rank dead last. I actually believe it’s in the top 5.
The fact it even managed to sneak into SOTY shows how supportive Americana voters are and how passionate they are about the American Roots music. It’s not just about Brandi Carlile. Otherwise they would’ve scrolled down to You And Me On The Rock in the bottom of the ballot instead of settling to Bonnie Raitt’s song in the middle of the road. Needless to say, she’ll also have support from Country & Rock. Because of that, Adele’s win may not be a thrash of the other nominees. Instead of winning 4-1, she’ll just win 3-1.
And much to everyone’s dismay, God Did will likely steal more votes from The Heart Part 5 than we imagine. It’s an Avengers-esque ensemble of name-checks like A Beautiful Noise was last year.

This seems pointless right now but someday there will be another American Roots upset in the General Field. They’ve been doing better than Rock & Country lately. Bonnie Raitt even beat 2013’s AOTY winner Babel in their own field category…
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 19, 2023 at 9:00 am #1205253481I am also confident that Harry won’t be going home empty handed. “As it was” made to much of an impact to not win anything.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 19, 2023 at 10:00 am #1205253626Honey, it does NOT matter how much impact “As It Was” made, it is up against much stronger competition (Adele). Harry Styles will be a loser on Grammy night.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 19, 2023 at 10:09 am #1205253658Harry could definitely take pop performance, he’s won it before. Not sure about his strength in the general field.
