Honey the 30 era has no sweeper vibes. 30 has been languishing at BB below top 100 for most of 2022.
EOM has been completely forgotten and irrelevant for most of 2022, nobody remembers it except her stans.
As It Was remains in the BB TOP 10 after 43 weeks since it’s release last April. 15 weeks TOP1, most weeks at TOP2 and TOP3. It’s is acclaimed with many publications naming it as among the best songs of 2022. It has sweeper vibes written all over it.
“One Sweet Day,” “Despacito,” “Old Town Road,” and “Yeah!” are what Cameron is referring to. I’m convinced one of the double-digit week #1 hits will win – “Easy on Me” or “As It Was.” “As It Was” could probably win something, but it does NOT give me “Grammy sweeper.” I wouldn’t be surprised at a “Truth Hurts”/”Bad Guy” type situation, or a clean sweep from “Easy on Me.” Can’t see a clean sweep for “As It Was.”
January 28, 2023 at 5:47 am #1205272210As It Was has that post pandemic resonance, whereas Easy On Me is yet another basic break up song, with Adele doing some special pleading: ‘I was just a child…’ No, honey – you were 24 and worth $50m. Hardly an innocent abroad.
Wasn’t she 30? 🤔
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 28, 2023 at 9:55 am #1205272524“Easy On Me” made several year end charts. It’s not forgotten. “As It Was” is fine. But let’s not act like The Weeknd hasn’t been doing that same synth-Pop/new wave sound since 2019.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 28, 2023 at 3:19 pm #1205272824Hon let’s not act like EOM does not sound like a discard from her 21/25 era. Adele’s ballads sound the same, you hear one you hear them all. She’s been having the same sound for a decade yet keep getting sweeps for her lack of creativity and variation.

January 28, 2023 at 5:13 pm #1205272956Isn’t As It Was the biggest song in the lineup? The point is the biggest song could lose ROTY/SOTY despite it’s status commercially. I wasn’t denying that Easy On Me was a big song. Most users were saying As It Was has it in the bag due to the huge status
A song that was nominated to 4 Grammys simply cannot “bomb” at the Grammys. It was nominated to FOUR GRAMMYS.
If it loses to Easy On Me or another similarly big song, by a huge Grammy doarling, it doesn’t mean it’s “bombing” either. Bombing is 0 nominations. At most it’s a huge song losing to a tiny song by a not-Grammy darling artist.
And I don’t know who this “y’all” people are who are “finally” seeing blah blah… Easy On Me is predicted to win by almost everyone on this forum, in the polls, and in the prediction center, so who are these invisible y’all you’re trying to school about big songs “bombing” anyway? Pip?

No, she was 24 when she married her ex and had Angelo, which is what she’s singing about.
“Go easy on me, baby
I was still a child
I didn’t get the chance to
Feel the world around me
I had no time to choose
What I chose to do
So go easy on me”‘Baby’ is her ex husband.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 30, 2023 at 7:19 pm #1205275459I’ll take a gamble and say As It Was wins here, which also means it wins ROTY. It’s easily the biggest song of last year and if Harry could pull an upset in Pop Solo for Watermelon Sugar, he’s an even bigger threat for a category like this.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 30, 2023 at 7:29 pm #1205275469I could see Harry winning one of the pop categories, but no way he pulls more votes than Adele in the GF.

Just because Adele won for 21 and 25, you think she’ll always win. You no doubt thought Billie would win last year too, and Taylor will win next. But it’s not the same as it was. There are no sacred cows anymore, especially a singer who angered many Grammy voters by cancelling her residency with 24 hours notice, when they’d already paid for air fares and hotels. I don’t feel she has the good will of the industry in the same way these days. She has a rep for being lazy and difficult.

The negative numbers for “Easy on Me” mean that the song is considered such a lock, you would need to bet more than $100 on “Easy on Me”, to receive a payout of $100.

His name won 5 Emmy’s amid Vegas backlash. In fact, rescheduled residency, acclaimed and going into its tenth week. Calm down. She might lose everything, but it won’t be for that reason.

To me everyone has their low days of the Grammys where they don’t win anything or not sweep I feel either Adele sweeps or end up like Billie, Taylor and other artist main artist that sweep. If she wins both music video and film it will be a clean sweep.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 8:40 am #1205279392I think Vegas backlash is being a bit overestimated. Only ticket holders were really mad at Adele. She would only face major backlash if she was outed as a Tory or something like that, which we can safely say it’s not going to happen.
If Adele loses it’ll be just because competition is very cutthroat this year and 30, albeit a blockbuster, wasn’t as big as 21 or 25. But it was still gigantic, one of the biggest albums of the year.

Yeah, the moment the show actually started, all was forgiven. People went to the show and loved it.
‘As It Was’ would be a deserving winner and just feels like a “Grammy” song, but I really love ‘Easy on Me’ for what’s it worth.
