Bonnie benefited from the fact that she was the oddball in a current pop heavy category, and her song was self-written. I’m fine with the win because I tend to like surprise wins like this one.

I’m fine with Bonnie’s win too.

Veterans deserve their flowers too. The last time was when Robert Plant won AOTY in 2009 (Beck and Daft Punk are from a different generation that artists like Bonnie Raitt and Robert Plant)

I wasn’t fan of Herbie and Plant/Krauss AOTY wins in 2008/2009 though

But in 2023 when most of the GF winners since 2010 have been younger popular acts it feels refreshing a Bonnie Raitt SOTY win
