Hi all, just wanted to alert everyone that our 2nd Annual Gold Derby Music Awards will be announced December 9 at 10:00am Pacific/1:00pm Eastern on Gold Derby’s YouTube channel! I’m really proud of the list we’ve put together from the first-round voting. I hope you like them! And if you don’t like them, know that I hope to keep refining this process with complete transparency as the awards go forward, which is more than you can usually say for the Grammys 😉

Until then, I thought I’d tease you guys with a few blind items about the nominations:
— Just like at the Grammys, our most nominated artist has 11 bids.
— One artist is up for Artist of the Year despite not having any other nominations.
— Two artists received enough votes to be nominated in multiple categories, but as per my new rules, they are only included as nominees in the category where they got the most votes.
— The person who finished 11th in the Album of the Year voting missed out on a nomination by just 3 points.

First want to say thank you so much for organizing this, I look forward to voting in GoldDerby awards for film, television, and music each year. I also want to make some guesses on the blind items.
1. Assuming most nominated artist is maybe Gaga? She was most nominated last year and had 2 songs eligible so maybe
2. I’m assuming the artist up for artist of the year and no other awards is BTS, they did the same last year.
3. I’m assuming the two artists with enough votes in multiple genres are Doja Cat for Planet Her and maybe Kacey Musgraves for Star-Crossed
4. I feel for whoever got 11th. My guess is Ariana

Maybe Halsey as well?

The Justin shutout and the fact the we didn’t nominate IGAKOY for Best Music Video makes up superior to the grammys I fear!

Moving forward, I think that some of the genres are broad enough to be splintered, and we’re capable enough of filling those ballots with worthy contenders. No The Weeknd in Music Video is disappointing, but I tried, at least.
