Why are you so obsessed with popularity? People “hate” on Gaga’s fake reactions because they’re obviously staged. She’s always heavily favored to win according to everyone and she’s invested on awards recognition. She knows she’s winning. That fake crying every single time she wins something she was expected to couldn’t be more contrived.

I’m not obsessed with popularity. Kacey is too new and hardly overdue to win AoTY. Black Panther deserved it, and would’ve been perceived much better by the hip-hop community than This Is America winning. Because the latter seems to be more of a win for the political left in America, than Hip-Hop overdue artists.

For Gaga, if she’s always favored to win and ends up losing sometimes, maybe she doesn’t trust Golderby? So I don’t blame her for being surprised and emotional? Maybe she doesn’t even read predictions. Because honestly, if I were to trust these predictions that told me i was going to win BA at the Globes, the Oscar two years ago for TIHTY etc, I’d be disappointed every show.

She’s sweeping the awards with Shallow and this year she had GF noms for the first time since BTW. I really don’t buy it…

Black Panther didn’t deserve to win. If they were going to reward popularity, they would choose Post, Drake or Cardi. If they went for quality, Kacey or Janelle. If they wanted a mix of both, Cardi. BP was just okay in sales and critical reception for someone of Kendrick’s stature. Besides, had he won for this, he wouldn’t win for his next(and probably bigger and better) album. Kendrick deserves better than an “overdue AOTY win” for his least meaningful record. I’d be frustrated if I was him and I won, honestly.

Kacey probably didn’t deserve the win IMO, but her speech was nice.

What makes you say she “probably” didn’t deserve it? Did you not listen to her album?

What is this supposed to mean? AOTY should only be awarded to artists who have previously lost as some sort of make-up?

Golden Hour was better than Black Panther and rightfully won against it.

Golden Hour is not totally deserved it. Unlike Janelle Monae’s Dirty Computer, it’s not a masterpiece. Golden Hour is a forgettable album that y’all pop stans that hyped the fuck out just like Lorde’s Melodrama.

    1. This is America is a horrible song with great lyrics I guess. The ROTY and SOTY nominees were straight up garbage.

    2. I think Dua Lipa will break the BNA curse. She’s too relevant and has a huge fanbase. So many people like her music

    3. Kacey Musgraves absolutely deserved all the awards she won. She deserved more in fact. Golden Hour is aging like fine wine and I’m glad she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. I would’ve been cool with the black panther soundtrack winning AOTY too.

    4. Daytona is so underrated and should have won best hip-hop album. I’m happy for Cardi though, I don’t care for her music but it was nice to see her win.

    Sure, Jan.

I never liked Melodrama, but I LOVED GH on my first listen. Anyway, I’ve been following Kacey since 2015.

It’s a not-great song with not-great lyrics. I said it. I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s horrible.

There’s no such a thing of “BNA curse”.

Just realized that Childish Gambino could have won a 5th Grammy had the rap panel not snubbed him in Rap Song. Drake would have went home emptyhanded. He better thank his lucky stars.

Right. The Grammys just pick some winners that tend to not live up to the expectations.

Because they’re dumb. Macklemore, Fun and Meghan Trainor were obviously going nowhere but down.

The fact that they snubbed Lorde of a nomination for him was sickening enough. Lorde had a sophomore slump commercially, but her album will probably go down as one of the best of the decade, at least. Now, Ed, Kendrick and Kacey are multiple Grammy winners for their later work. Even James Blake now has a Grammy. They must’ve thought they were being progressive and in touch with that push for that obvious industry plant.

Macklemore is an independent artist. He wasn’t an industry plant.

He was also good and deserving of at least some of the recognition he got that year, and he could have avoided the public backlash of his win had he not drawn further attention to it with that embarrassing text to Kendrick that he made public for some ungodly reason.
