I don’t really know why some was expecting “Easy On Me” to just overshadow almost everything ever with first day streams. Of course, it’s gonna come out of the gates well. It’s Adele. But it’s a stripped down typical Adele ballad. While her album sales is where it’s especially at. Also, you can’t put up over-the-top numbers forever.

All your comments are bitter, I’m trying to figure it out why. Are you pressed maybe?

How was that bitter? Only an easily triggered stan would think that was “bitter”.

The numbers are great, and they were always gonna be great. But the song is almost exactly what you’d expect from Adele. While it isn’t conventionally “catchy”. And a decent percentage of the streaming audience is not gonna get up for a ballad. Ultimately, though, album sales is where she’ll thrive. Nothing “bitter” about anything in that statement.

“Driver’s License” is literally one of the biggest songs of the year. Ballads still have a market in today’s world. And I don’t know why you keep stressing about her songs being typical for her, as if it’s a guarantee that something different would ignite some new fanbase for Adele. Yeah, we all want something new from Adele, but like Gucci said, chances are y’all would be critical of that as well.

There’s always gonna be a couple of exceptions. But in general, there’s only been a few legit hit ballads over the last decade, a couple of which are from Adele. And most of them have grown slowly, whether than being huge out of the gate.

I was actually defending Adele, not being critical. The song is a typical Adele ballad and is not all that catchy. That’s not a criticism of the song. It’s just a reality. I was trying to get her stans to not be so panic-y. The current streaming demo in the US is just not where she’s gonna make her biggest impression, and that’s okay. While her years of being the absolute, by far biggest artist in the US are probably over too. And that’s also okay. She’s still a huge artist that’s gonna sell, including in the US.

Once again, I’m neither here nor there with Adele, and I enjoy some of her music and definitely her personality and success. Y’all are getting hella triggered for no reason. For some, if Adele is not absolutely dominating and if there’s not absolute ass-kissing from everyone, there’s a problem. In general, some of y’all need some calm down pills. This is not stan Twitter.

I have a theory that the album will mostly won’t sound like the first single…and the second single will be THE single off the album. if that make sense….

I just find quite weird that you think she’s kind of bland but still bother commenting it all the time, always with some sort of negativity.

You can not say that Adeles song is not that catchy and say that iys a reality, when there are millions of people who would disagree. And you can not say a song is not catchy and say at the same time you are not criticizing it when in fact you are. You are entitled to your own opinions but I just felt that was a little contradictory when you say your not being critical and at the same time saying it’s a reality that the song is not catchy.

Typical for Adele is still better than a lot of what’s being regurgitated on streaming & Tik Tok. Again what did some expect from her? A Doja Cat or Kid LAROI feature? She has her own lane. Also, “Easy On Me” is definitely catchy. The melody & chorus are instantaneously memorable.

Y’all doing way too much. I think the song is better than “Hello”. But what I think about the song doesn’t matter. Even by “Adele ballad” standards, it doesn’t really have much of a hook and isn’t that intriguing lyrically. Her vocals and it being Adele’s first single in five years is why it’s doing the numbers it is. But it is doing well and probably hold solidly, and her album is definitely gonna do well.

I was trying to temper the folks who were getting upset by the numbers not being even bigger. Not everyone who doesn’t look to kiss Adele’s ass is a “hater”. Calm y’all asses down. Once again, this is ain’t stan Twitter. Y’all are stans of arguably the biggest artist in the planet. Stop being so damn insecure and tripping over every single critique and getting paranoid about numbers.

This song is definitely not as instantaneous as “Hello” (which I mentioned earlier in the thread). “Easy on Me,” however, is something that should hold over well on Hot AC & AC and do “good enough” on Pop. I agree that the market has changed a lot, which is why people should keep their expectations fare. 21 and 25-level success is not guaranteed, but 30 should easily do great numbers in this market, nonetheless. We should also be mindful that this will be her first album released instantly to streaming services.

I do wonder what the label is considering for the next single. Will it be more of the same, or will they try to speed it up a bit and test the waters? At this point, why not take the risk?

Adele is still going to be breaking records. Streaming is also geared towards a relatively younger audience. Her digital and physical sales could/will be massive.

*Also reminder that almost all the biggest songs of the year: driver’s license, Stay, Levitating, KMM, even MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) reached their peak numbers after a couple weeks and not on their first day.

So if it is indeed an organic hit (which most of Adele’s songs are) and it does good on radio. Those numbers could/would increase. I think radios have been picking up the song well, despite being a ballad.

I mean she said the album doesn’t sound like the first single. And that Easy On Me was the most “Adele” song.

The retroactive “Hello” pannings need to stop. That song is genuinely amazing and one of the highlights of her career.

As for Easy On Me, my initial reaction to the snippet ended up being the same as my thoughts on the full song: cute for an album track, not giving what it needed to for a lead single. For that reason, I suspect I’ll like it more within the context of the album.

I can’t wait. I’m tired of people complaining she has grown as an artist.

It’s not retroactive for me. I’m not sure if “Hello” is even one of my ten favorite Adele songs. But it did what it was supposed to do.
