1. Taylor Swift: 51 weeks #1 on BB200, more than all the below listed combined. First woman to win AOTY twice, she inspired the new generation: See Olivia Rodrigo and Conan Gray. She managed to cross over from country to pop and experiment with different genres in her career.
2. Beyonce: Great career with huge acclaim
3. Rihanna: Biggest Hit Maker this century and Cross Industries force
4. Adele: The reason she is not higher is because she has not yet shown artistic versatility like the ones above. She can elevate more based on what her new album has in store and the cultural impact it may have.
5. Lady Gaga: She had two big studio albums until 2011, since then only a soundtrack and the connected movie have kinda made a splash. Maybe she can become a full-time actress it her next project on the field receive acclaim.
6. Katy Perry: She has kinda been one of the same her whole career; she never evolved and ageism hit her the hardest lately. I can only see her following a Kelly Clarkson route and having a daytime show or do more tv shows. Music wise she doesn’t seem to leave her comfort zone, no matter how she labels it, she still makes the same kids bops music.

Lady Gaga and Adele have won Oscars. The Lady Gaga movie was a smash worldwide. Both the movie and the album. You are right about Katy. She has barely evolved and ageism is the reason why she isn’t commercially successful as before. Gaga is as old as she is and Gaga is successful because she evolved. Perry’s saving grace would be Teenage Dream II.

That’s my question too. They all are so different. Only thing we can compare is their billboard stats, nothing else.

I think it is how you consider them ranked. But again most of the users like and dislike certain artists, so most of the rankings are biased here.

With whatever parameter you wanna use, you’re free. No ranking can be unbiased when talking about preferences, and thats ok.

Recall that as a visible member of DS, she began releasing hits (top 3) in 1997, before Britney, Christina (both 1998) etc!! Many artists have come and gone.
Another interesting fact. Remember Kim and Bieber used to have the most Instagram followers, until the company chose to cleanse the platform of fake accounts in 2018 or so. While the rest lost tens of millions of followers, Beyonce’s page remained unmoved and she ascended to the most followed at that point with 0 following. They haven’t done similar exercise again since.
Knowles has an excellent vocal control and the highest pitch of the bunch. Adele is a great live performer contrary to some members’ opinions, as well as an excellent songwriter. She performs her songs on the exact configurations of the original record and her writings have literary nuances with superior vocabulary, not just punchlines and humming. Artists usually lower the keys at least for live performances.
Riri (2005), Swift (2006) and Adele (2007) began releasing commercially before Gaga and Perry (both 2008) yet they feel more relevant atm. Even without Adele and Rihanna releasing in a while.
But it’s best to post our preference without committing statistical abominations. No simple metric would rank these artists fairly. Intermediate statistics would assign relative weights considering release schedules, competition and music market at each point among many other factors.
