No one said that any of the other contenders were groundbreaking. That’s y’all taking one piece of a post and missing the entire point just because some people don’t buy into the narrative that one should be rewarded the top trophy just because it’s their last album. It’s the Gaga fans blowing things out of proportion with these long essays, attempting to convince people why Gaga/Bennett DESERVE to win the award. No one has to feel that it’s a deserving win, and you are also free to feel that it’s deserving. It’s not that deep. It seems like a bit of insecurity because deep down y’all know an album like this would have been ignored or relegated to Traditional Pop if not for that narrative.

It is. To me. With all due respect, this album had no impact at all and definitely didn’t define the year – in sales, acclaim, relevance – whatever metric you can think of. And before anybody gets pressed, this is solely my personal opinion which isn’t gonna be changed by long essays. We all have the facts at hand and are allowed to make informed opinions.

Maybe the lesson you’re getting out of this is that no matter what receipts you pull, art and what is deserving of album of the year according to a group of musical professions is as subjective as your opinion as to what you think is a deserved album of the year and their choice is no less uninspiring or boring than whatever you think is deserving each year.

The good news is it wasn’t ignored so now it can win 🙏

There’s only one group of users trying to argue subjectivity though, no one is urging anybody to hold the stance that it’s an uninspiring win. Those that feel like it has some sort of inspiration and/or resonates with people are the only ones trying to shift opinions.

So that’s all that should matter to your base. Not people who feel that it would be an underwhelming or uninspired choice.

I don’t get why the Taylor Swift fans are salty, when Taylor Swift herself praised Gaga for her career moves starting from her first Jazz album with Tony.

stop! Gaga Stan’s are vile towards TAYLOR all the time

That’s my point, this isn’t going to be much of a debate because what I made was a statement, not a question open for a debate.

Your claim that it would be a lazy win is absolutely subjective and up for debate.

There’s a lot that’s special about this pairing, this album, and the story behind this album, so to chalk up a hypothetical win purely to lazy name-checking feels reductive, especially in a year where they could easily award a big commercial breakout star (Olivia Rodrigo) or Grammy darlings who are currently charting (Silk Sonic, Billie Eilish).

House of Gucci is a fucking disgrace!

“Love For Sale” is the album.

It’s also important to note that Lady Gaga isn’t.

Could you please stop treating this thread as it was Twitter? You need to stop, its getting weird at this point this obsession of yours with Gaga and her fans

Also this is not a movie thread and not a lady gaga x Taylor swift thread as much as you’ve being trying to transform all the time

Love For Sale is going to be a disappointing winner because its win has nothing to do with merit and everything to do with narrative. It’ll be looked at the same way people look at Herbie Hancock’s AOTY, Laura Dern’s oscar and of course Tony Bennett’s first AOTY. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if half of its votes come from people who didn’t even listen to the album.

Disappointed that we’ll be going from Golden Hour, WWAFA,WDWG and Folklore to Love For Sale and 30 but it is what it is.

    Give Ariana DeBose an oscar

Well, I’m pretty sure there are also people similarly disappointed that we’ve had Golden Hour, WWAFAWDWG, Folklore and 30 win AOTY consecutively.

Everybody has their own preferences. With winners, there are also losers.
