Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic there is one artist who I can truly say has been on consistent repeat. Beyoncé. Why? Because her music is culturally relevant. Black Parade was one of my favorite songs this year. The lyrics are powerfully written and crafted in a way that makes each sound have meaning, have impact. Beyoncé has always had the ability to make you feel immersed in her music. The almost visual experience her music gives is unprecedented. Growing in mastery since 4, her albums are real. Critically acclaimed. You see the hard work.

Undoubtedly, Beyoncé should reign supreme at Grammys 2021. If not with Black Parade then with Savage. Both songs show that Beyoncé surrounds herself with the right people. This is not a game.

Her peak was Lemonade and then she bought her own hype and started being more about being “Beyonce” than being a real artist. Her personality/lifestyle is a total turnoff for me. Even if I bop to Single Ladies @ the club.

Lemonade was her last studio album. You don’t even know her to even speak on her personality or lifestyle. She has always released her work, toured, barely promoted, and disappeared. Most artists pull stunts and discount discounted songs to go #1. Not Beyoncé…because doesn’t need her record speaks for itself. Regardless of what you think she’s a legend…can’t say the same for your “fave”. Clearly you have terrible taste and unhealthy hatred or disdain for Beyoncé.
December 16, 2020 at 11:29 pm #1203926542She’s a force in the industry. She’s a legend already. But her latest output has been very lacking. And you don’t need to point out any of the flaws of my apparent “faves” so shush.

Lemonade benefitted from strong visuals and multiple narratives that accompanied the era. It’s an iconic album but the best of her career/decade? Nah.
EIL is a complete dud. It did NOT deserve Urban Contemporary Album. Especially over War & Leisure and the wrongfully snubbed Dirty Computer.
The Gift/BIK is a snooze-fest (with the exception of a couple songs). Beyoncé has been riding the BLM, Afrocentric, feminist wave for a while now. She’s also smartly attached herself on big Pop records to maintain relevancy on the charts.
I think B needs to abandon the side projects and reinvent herself. Or call up Kelly & Michelle for a DC reunion. That would be huge.

ReplyCopy URLDecember 17, 2020 at 1:54 am #1203926774Funny how people want to talk shit about a Black woman’s “personality” being an issue when all she’s done is literally release album>Single>tour and rinse wash repeat the last decade. You don’t see her outside of album cycles or promotional projects. She doesn’t overexpose herself. She’s not on twitter/instagram whining or bitching about anything. She’s the consummate professional.
I do wonder what it COULD be about her “personality” that is oh soooo grating to folks.

Her latest projects served their purpose (all of which were Grammy nominated and critically acclaimed). I don’t need to point out anything, but I did and will continue to so you 🤫 🤐 🗑
December 17, 2020 at 5:07 am #1203926999“BEYONCÉ” and “Lemonade” are both masterpieces that should have won Beyoncé AOTY. “Black Parade” would make a fine ROTY winner as a representation of dreadful 2020 and BLM. It’s a big deal to lead the nominations field in an off year for your “side projects.” When will ur favs? For Beyoncé to really win AOTY though, she’ll need to release a full-on pop album. I’m unsure if she takes her sound in that direction again. Artists pivot in their careers all the time, so anything’s possible, I guess. Beyoncé is a singular musical force and talent regardless, and her legacy is completely assured at this stage.
