    Coldplay should have won.

Robert Plant (with Zeppelin) should have won in 1972 and 1974.

Radiohead clearly should have won especially after getting robbed for Kid A.

Raising Sand was not only a very uninspired, clearly name-based win, but it robbed some classic albums of the chance to win. Thanksfully this would be the last time something like this happened.

    1. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends
    2. The Carter III
    3. In Rainbows
    4. Raising Sand
    5. Year of the Gentlemen (not sure how this got an AOTY nom)

    Next is 2010… oh boy.

Carter 3 I felt was overrated and it hasn’t aged well. Though it was THE event album of 2008, it wasn’t even better than half of the albums it went against in the Best Rap Album category (Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco all released superior projects) so I can’t in good conscious go for that album.

I randomly re-listened to “Lollipop” recently and it’s so bad 💀

I can’t imagine how I’d react to C3 today. The album did make a huge impact then so an Album of the Year nomination is understandable.

I think the winner should have been Coldplay.

    Tha Carter III A
    In Rainbows B+
    Raising Sand B+
Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends B
    Year of the Gentlemen B

Raising Sand is… fine, really, if a vanilla ice tea record you must have I’ll take the one featuring two great vocalists over Norah Jones any day. Lil Wayne easily has my vote here, although general opinions on the record seem mixed. Coldplay and Ne-Yo made good records by their standards, but I’ll happily live without both. Don’t know what I would’ve nominated that was on their radar apart from The Way I See It, which is still an obscure pick, and Rockferry, which I personally prefer to Back to Black.

Coldplay definitely should’ve won, or Radiohead. Thank God the Grammys decided to end the oberdue veteran phase that year

Radiohead’s In Rainbows is not only my favourite album of the 2000s and my favourite Radiohead album, it’s one of my ten favourite records of all time. It’s such an amazing record, the band was overdue, and it came out for free to boot. The fact that they overlooked it is incredibly, ridiculously dumb. As for the other nominees, Coldplay’s album was their best since Parachutes so I understand why people here are giving it the win. Lil Wayne’s album was great and easily the best thing he’s ever done. Raising Sand is a fine enough country record but I just don’t get why it won. Ne-Yo’s album was okay but didn’t really stand out compared to most R&B back then.

“A Milli” and a lot of the deep cuts still slap, though.

Tha Carter III should’ve won. It was the best album nominated tbh.
