Don’t get the Some Nights hate. It is one of the most influential albums for 2010s pop music, it produced two decade-defining songs, and Fun. was a breath of fresh air among the overly-sweet party pop music.

I mean We Are Young was a good song but they were a one year wonder. Antonoff is great at producing and Nate Ruess did some solid features, none of them aren’t Frank Ocean and Channel Orange level.

Frank did the right thing with boycotting the Grammys after that shit.

    I bomb atomically.

Exactly. Just because it was popular at the time doesn’t mean it was “Influential”. I don’t see any artists trying to copy their sound.

Jack Antonoff is influential, fun. was not.

note: 1989, Melodrama, Norman F*cking Rockwell etc.

He definitely carried that whole group.

Frank didn’t boycott shit, he was just mad he was inevitably going to lose to Lemonade.

    Channel Orange should have won.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard anyone talk about being influenced by ‘Some Nights’ by Fun.

The success of ‘Some Nights’ might have helped open the door for Jack Antonoff to begin working his way up from co-writing and producing a couple of songs with artists like Carly Rae Jepsen and Sara Bareilles, to doing several songs on 1989, to co-writing and producing about 90% of the songs on Melodrama and similar contributions to a number of albums that followed.

But that doesn’t mean that ‘Some Nights’ itself was influential.

Ironic considering the following year Macklemore & Ryan Lewis would carry that OYW mantle.

No, i don’t buy it. I remember him dissing Ken Ehrlich after they dissed his Grammy performance and even after Blonde he didn’t submit anything.

Meghan Trainor also one of them. Alessia Cara and Chance the Rapper were relevant for few years but curse got them.

Get real!  NOT one single artist was inspired by fun.  Pure delusion.
