I don’t think Selena will ever get nominated… There was a wide open category for Dance and she was allowed to enter as a lead artist for “It Ain’t Me” and she missed. I think it’s clear the music industry doesn’t have much respect for her work, most likely due to poor televised vocal performances.

Although none of the Disney acts have ever been fully embraced. Demi and Jonas Brothers both only have two nominations, Miley only has one, and Hilary Duff also was never nominated (probably due to similar reasons as Selena-not much respect as a vocalist).

Patsy has never been one of my favorites, but I can’t disagree where she is concerned here. I could be wrong though, but her passing unfortunately took place before awards shows were even a thing. I just now read that the first Grammy ceremony was in 1959. Her plane crash was just four years later. The first CMA awards ceremony was four years after her crash.

The only way Selena is getting nominated or winning is if it’s as a featured artist on a Dance track. She’s not voters’ cup of tea.

Evelyn Champagne King surprisingly did not get any Grammy nominations in R&B in the late 70s and early 80s. She is known for her disco hit Shame and she had number one R&B hits Love Come Down and I’m In Love as well as number two R&B hits with Betcha She Don’t Love You and Flirt
