For me personally, as more of a pop music person, I believe Although Gaga, Rihanna, Ariana, Britney, Katy, Kesha, etc. have gotten Grammy nods, I am shocked by some of the snubs:
My preferred noms and wins per artist, Wins are in bold:
Gaga:
2009: Best Dance Recording – Just Dance
2010: Best New Artist (Stupid f**king rules) – she would have won; AOTY,SOTY,ROTY,(For Poker Face & The Fame), Dance Recording(Poker Face), Dance/Electronica Album(The Fame), Female Pop Vocal Performance(Paparazzi) – I know she didn’t get this one but she deserved it over Taylor Swift
2011: AOTY,SOTY,ROTY (Bad Romance & The Fame Monster), Pop Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance, Music Video, Pop Collab with Vocals, Dance Recording – Same noms just added the rightfully deserved SOTY&ROTY
2012: AOTY, SOTY(Edge of Glory), ROTY(Born This Way), – Edge of Glory was amazing and deserved it over CeeLo Green & Born This Way topped the Billboard 100 for 6 weeks. Pop Solo Performance for Edge of Glory (You and I is an amazing song, but EOG deserved it more), Pop Album, Dance Recording for Born This Way

2011: Best New Artist, Dance/Electronica Album, Dance Recording (Take it Off)
2012: Dance Recording for Blow
2018: Pop Solo Performance. Pop Vocal Album
– 1 win, 7 nominations
Katy:
2009: Female Pop Vocal Performance
2010: BNA -(Gaga would have won if not for the rules, but Katy would have been nominated), I actually don’t think she should have been nominated for Hot n Cold
2011 – AOTY, ROTY, Pop Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance, Pop Collab w/ Vocals – (although not the most lyrical of songs, was too big not to win)
2012 – ROTY, Pop Solo Performance
2013 – Pop Solo Performance
2014 – SOTY, Pop Solo Performance
2015 – Pop Group/Duo, Pop Album
– 1 win, 14 nominations

January 16, 2021 at 1:58 pm #1203986805Nas- 13 Nominations and ZERO wins is absolutely horrid and a disgrace to the Rap voting committee. He should have at least three wins.
1997- Best Rap Solo Performance (If I Ruled The World)
2014- Best Rap Album (Life Is Good)
2014- Best Rap/Sung (Cherry Wine)
Also the fact that Kanye West has 21 Grammys but not ONE Album Of The Year win is disgusting. He wasn’t even NOMINATED for AOTY for his Magnum Opus. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Rakim, one of the most influential MC’s of all time, has only garnered ONE Grammy nomination in his entire career and of course no Wins.

The biggest selling artist of the 90’s. The biggest selling Female artist in the U.S.
The most #1’s by any solo artist or Female songwriter.
2 Diamond albums.Yet only 5 GRAMMYs? Not even a ROTY, AOTY, or SOTY award to her name. Weird asf.

Both LP1 and Magdalene deserved a Best Alt Album nomination. At least Alt Album this year is going to FTBC, Punisher or Jamie all of which are really great albums. Magdalene still deserves a nomination over the boring Beck album.
She should’ve won BNA in 2016. She wasn’t even nominated and Meghan Trainor winning is a joke.
Also Cellophane deserved BMV last year. This is a masterpiece, I’m sorry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLjqFpBh84

2011 Beat Pop Collab was thee best time to give both Katy and Snoop a Grammy but no, a cover of Imagine wins instead, gtfo here. Sigh
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 16, 2021 at 11:04 pm #1203987508Get real! Katy Perry has NOT ever deserved more love from the Grammys.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 16, 2021 at 11:36 pm #1203987541Lana Del Rey and Nicki Minaj. Despite being the most influential female artists of the last decade, neither have won a single Grammy. The fact that we have artists like Lorde and Billie Eillish is because Lana influenced them. The fact that there’s been a huge increase in female rappers like Cardi, Megan and Doja is because Nicki paved the way for them.
