Halsey never being nominated for solo work and Paramore only ever getting a single Rock Song nomination (which they won) are pretty egregious if you ask me. Ariana Grande, Fiona Apple, Janelle Monáe, Lana Del Rey, and Miley Cyrus have all deserved more nominations and/or wins.

Paramore was nominated for BNA and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group for “The Only Exception.”

Minus the GF, she’s pretty much maxed out the pop field (and never missed) ever since the ME era.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 17, 2021 at 3:36 pm #1203988535Pretty much every alt & rock act in their prime who always missed out on nominations because of veterans 20 years past their prime getting namechecked.
Thank god the rock categories have stopped that now (mostly).

Thanks for the correction, that’s better but I would still say they’ve been deserving of album category nominations.

Sweetener would’ve been deserving of a nomination or two in the general field, and 1 win despite being one of the most consistently popular and acclaimed pop acts of her generation seems a bit low.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 17, 2021 at 4:51 pm #1203988646Not to mention losing Pop Solo Performance in 2020…and not being nominated for SOTY – (She would have if she submitted Thank U, Next instead of 7 Rings). So far, three months into the eligibility period Positions is looking good for the GF, though I expect that to change with Adele, Lorde, Rihanna all releasing. She will at least get BPVA and BPSP, with maybe and R&B nod for the collab with the Weeknd? btw, what do you guys think about 34+35’s remix chances for rap/sung?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 17, 2021 at 5:31 pm #1203988695Get real! Positions is NOT looking good for the General Field. Ariana Grande will be relegated to Pop.

“thank u, next” was her Song of the Year submission.

Not only the rap categories was screwed this year dude even R&B.
The Grammys paying dust to black artists and as usual. **RACIST**
Whereas *Post Malone* can just get in GF (SOTY/ROTY and AOTY) with ease (and that’s without genre support) whereas Abel was BLOCKED on everything.
Even Coldplay can get in AOTY without any support. Wtf???
January 17, 2021 at 9:44 pm #1203988957Artists who you believe deserve more love from the Grammys – List preferred noms
**The correct answer here imo are Artists of color, POC, Black Artists.
They deserve more love from the Grammys.
Not just a select people but ALL even smaller artists. Enough of the black token s*** they always do.

As I said before, Nas having 13 nominations and ZERO wins is simply disgusting
Rakim only having 1 Nom over his illustrious career is straight bullshit
Snoop Dogg being nominated 17 times with no wins while Macklemore, Cardi B, Young MC, and Coolio all have at least one Gramophone is simply ridiculous.
Also the fact that NO Hip Hop album has won Album Of The Year in SIXTEEN years despite universally celebrated works by Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, and RTJ being released within that time is the biggest slap in the face imaginable
