Honey, the Grammy Awards are the epitome of white privilege. As stated before, black artists should no longer submit their work for Grammy consideration.

“I’m Real (Remix)”, “Ain’t It Funny (Remix)”, & “All I Have” deserved Rap/Sung Collaboration nominations.
She should’ve also won Dance Recording for “Lets Get Loud” over “Who Let the Dogs Out?”.

Do you think the grammys will give Beyonce awards in order to be like, look were not racist, a black woman won 28 times, with about 22 of those being in R&B and Rap!!….(circkets)

I mean if thats the strategy then its stupid, shallow, and ultimately MORE racist than anything.
Its the same thing Kanye talked about openly. He’s won a bunch of Grammys , but rarely if ever against white competition (his only win against white competition was for best rap album in 2006 when Late Registration beat Eminem’s Encore)
Hell the fact that Eminem had the most Grammy wins in the Best Rap Album category is laughably ridiculous
Truth is there is a STUNNING lack of representation when it comes to black artists winning on the “General” categories over the past decade. Childish Gambino winning Record and Song of the year (becoming the FIRST rapper ever to do so) was a good step in the right direction but hardly indicative of major change when it comes to the attitudes of the grammy committee recognizing Black art.

2000: BNA, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance -(If You Had My Love), Best Dance Recording
2001: BPVA-(On the 6), Best Dance Recording-(WIN)
2003: I don’t know what category if would be submitted in, either pop collab or rap/sung, probably pop collab, but Jenny from the Block would have been nominated…
2012: Either Pop Group/Duo or Dance Recording for “On the Floor”
2013: Dance Recording for Dance Again
2015: Personally, and I know I might be biased because I love both of these artists and it’s my favorite song from both… I fully expected a nomination for the Iggy Azalea collab version of “Booty”, (It was a top 20 hit)
So, if I was the recording academy – 1 win, 9 nominations

Jenny would probably be pop, I imagine Ain’t It Funny would’ve been in Rap/Sung instead.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2021 at 2:52 pm #1203990276Honey, the Grammy Awards believe that rewarding black artists (Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, etc.) with a shitload of Rap and R&B Grammys while paying black artists dust in the General Field (Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year) is NOT racist. Get real!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2021 at 2:58 pm #1203990281Cardi B totally deserved her Grammy, and lets hope we will see some POC win in the big 4 in March!
– Although I am betting on Coldplay taking home AOTY b/c if they didn’t nominate them for anything else, it’s because they want them to win this
If Megan Thee Stallion loses BNA, I call BS
H.E.R. or Beyonce for SOTY and Megan/Beyonce or Roddy Ricch for ROTY (although they will probs give it to Dua…)
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2021 at 4:38 pm #1203990394Honey, be prepared for all white General Field winners. Old white voter dudes will support their own. YUCK!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2021 at 4:50 pm #1203990401She should’ve also won Dance Recording for “Lets Get Loud” over “Who Let the Dogs Out?”.
I know. That song is one of the most iconic dance tracks of its era and it lost to a terrible novelty song. I would have voted for her or Moby.

I think the Grammy’s had a rule about remixed songs not being eligible to be nominated in the 2000’s. If not I’m Real and Ain’t it Funny would have been very competitive. All I Have just lucked out because everyone nominated that year had a huge hit.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2021 at 10:06 pm #1203990630Honey, remixes were indeed ineligible for Grammy consideration back in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 00’s.
