Beyonce , Janelle, Kendrick, Gambino, Kanye, Jay-Z. No Black artist will ever be good enough for the grammys. Fucking Disgusting.

Really dissapointed Dirty Computer did not take this. But I’m not surprised. Golden Hour is a better choice than Drake, Cardi and the other mainstream. But this is getting so fucking boring. 9 years straight the same shit.

Out of 61 AOTY winners only 10 of those artists were black. The last black female winner was Lauryn Hill in 1999 for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill . That was 20 years ago.

Gambino won ROTY/SOTY, so we can’t count him. And his album last time wasn’t the most deserving. Beyoncé did win SOTY, and I remember it being a big thing then. But now, it’s one of those wins that people forget about.

I do think AOTY is still that category that needs to be more diverse. In this decade alone, there were all white winners, except Bruno, who has that appeal anyway.

At this point it doesn’t matter if the album isn’t the “most deserving”. Cus there have been plenty of white artists winning for mediocre work over better white artists. Why can’t it be the same with Black artists? And Black artists are anyways consistently putting out brilliant records that are levels above white artists.

I actually agree this. It was used against Black Panther possibly winning, but I remember the same people defending Bruno’s win. Black artists have to work ten times as these other artists for general field recognition.

I’m not going going to access and rank the AOTY winners because you think who’s “better” or not. All work hard whether I like the winners or not. Rather I’m going to say my top 2 favorite from each category.

    2011: The Suburbs

    2012: 21

    2013: Channel Orange

    2014: Random Access Memories

    2015: Beyoncé

    2016: To Pimp a Butterfly

    2017: Lemonade

    2018: Melodrama

    2019: Golden Hour

Whether you agree with me or not, have fun and be happy for who you want to win.
