I’ve seen a few people here say “Shallow” lost hype/died off or whatever. None of the other songs have any hype right now either (or had any to begin with). Meanwhile the ASIB soundtrack is still near the top of the charts with more awards to follow so I don’t get those comments at all.December 30, 2018 at 5:40 pm #1202714391
My current ranking:
2. Girls Like You
3. S’ Wonderful
4. The Middle
5. Fall In Line
6. Say Something
7. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Shallow is the front runner with the hype it currently has heading into award season. I see Girls Like You and The Middle pooling from the same voter group, both songs were big on Adult Top 40 Radio, but due to Girls Like You being bigger there (14 weeks at #1 vs. 7) and due to Girls Like You being the most recent song which is still performing well on the charts, I have it ahead of The Middle. I don’t think The Middle will rack in some votes from country voters who vote in this category, due to Shallow being a lite-country song while despite Maren being a country star, The Middle is as dance-pop as a song can get.January 5, 2019 at 8:31 pm #1202720270
I am still salty that Africa by Weezer did not make the lineup.January 9, 2019 at 3:57 am #1202727151
Usually the ones that have been nominated in a record of the year or song of the year category are the ones who can win. So it’s either shallow or the middle
‘Feel It Still’ was only nominated in Pop Duo/Group last year and stil won against the ROTY/SOTY nominee ‘Despacito’.January 9, 2019 at 5:13 am #1202727221
“Say Something” was only nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and beat a ROTY nominee.
