Kelly didn’t win this category with 3 past songs (including a #1 smash hit), she’s not going to win for a song that wasn’t a hit.
It’s Ed. Period.November 28, 2017 at 4:43 pm #1202423882
Shape of You is winning this, though I really wish Kelly could win this.
Will win: Shape of You
Should win: Love so SoftNovember 28, 2017 at 4:55 pm #1202423894
I think this category is ripe for an upset, and Kesha can do it. “Praying” has taken on a life of its own as a women’s anthem of sorts, and voters might want to acknowledge Kesha’s impressive career about-face as well as her sad legal troubles. There’s elsewhere to award Ed Sheeran in Pop Album. I’d agree that the rest of the field gets the “honor to be nominated” slots. Yay for Gaga pulling through with her great “Million Reasons,” Kelly continuing her nominations streak on this category (hope she’s in next cycle for the stunning “Meaning of Life”), and Pink just for being a survivor when many of her contemporaries have either faltered or outright disappeared. Go Kesha! (You were wrongfully snubbed in SOTY, BTW.)November 28, 2017 at 4:58 pm #1202423898
I’m surprised people are writing Pink off here, but first of all can we talk about the AMAZING news that Kelly Clarkson got in over Taylor Swift? I really didn’t think it would happen, but damn, the Academy nailed this category. They even rightly snubbed Sam Smith.
But yeah, looking at the nominees, it pains me to say that Kelly is an also-ran here just because “Love So Soft” (strangely) wasn’t enough of a hit. Kesha won’t win here either.
It’s Gaga vs Pink vs Ed. Ed is definitely the frontrunner but it’s clear the Grammys aren’t over the moon with him with this, and it’s likely he won’t win both this and Pop Album, and Pop Album seems like the more likely win for him.
Gaga has her pull, but I don’t get why people are dismissing Pink. It might not have hit the top 10, but it’s been a long-term hit with some high profile covers, her album sales have been HUGE, and she has crazy buzz with the AMAs performance. She could totally win.November 28, 2017 at 5:00 pm #1202423899

I wouldn’t be surprised at a P!nk win really.November 28, 2017 at 6:24 pm #1202423962
I’m still kinda shocked that Kelly got a nomination and Sam Smith didn’tNovember 28, 2017 at 6:37 pm #1202423976
Grammys have a hard on for anything mediocre Kelly and Pink put out. Seriously! Demi deserved a pop Mom somewhere.November 28, 2017 at 6:57 pm #1202423997
Shape of You will take it.November 28, 2017 at 7:01 pm #1202424001
I’m really believing in an upset by Kesha.November 28, 2017 at 8:18 pm #1202424038
P!nk and Kelly are out for sure.
Kesha could win but I think she is a little lucky to snatch this nom. It seems like a comforting gift for her and that’s it.
Gaga should win this because of all those performances promoting that song and MR deserves a Grammy.Oh, recording academy loves Gaga tho.
Ed is the one the media loves the most so I was not surprised all of you praised him like king, but lets be honest: his music is so generic and he even plagiarized. Grammys gave him only 2 noms even if he was predicted to be the biggest winner days ago. I dont think he deserves this.November 28, 2017 at 8:30 pm #1202424053
Should Win: Million Reasons (Lady Gaga)
Will Win: Million Reasons (Lady Gaga)
Kesha’s vocals were good but I think that her nomination is already a reward for her, considering her lack of Grammy history.
P!nk is definitely OUT – she has always been nominated in the Pop field but never wins. What About Us really pales in comparison to her earlier performances. I thought her best shot was back then during the So What/Sober era but unfortunately, she didn’t win. Kelly Clarkson will not win since Love So Soft was not a commercially successful hit.
It’s really between Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga. I would have picked Ed Sheeran if he was nominated for “Perfect” instead. His vocal performance for “Shape Of You” is really not outstanding (compared to Thinking Out Loud) and I think vocal performance on ballads usually have the edge in this category. I think Lady Gaga could pull an upset here. I may have been very critical of Joanne, but Lady Gaga really shined with “Million Reasons”. Her voice is so powerful and emotional on that simple song that it really sends good chills down your spine when you listen to it. Lady Gaga deserves the award this time.November 28, 2017 at 8:33 pm #1202424062
Should: Million Reasons
Will: Shape of YouNovember 28, 2017 at 9:36 pm #1202424129
Well hell! I’m about to jump on the Kesha bandwagon. She could take this. Escially given the current times we live in. Her speech would be a glorious television moment.November 28, 2017 at 9:46 pm #1202424136
Kelly and Pink are honored to be nominated and nothing more. Kesha could win, but the true competition is Sheeran vs Gaga. Sheeran will probably win due to not getting any big 3 nominations, but Gaga could pull a win.
Will Win: Shape of You
Should Win: Million Reasons
