The original version of the song from the Joanne album was better than every other nominee in this category. The piano version that won was a bit of a slow, overdramatic mess, but hey, I’m not mad at Gaga winning another Grammy.

Yes, the album version is one of my favorites. Don’t like the stripped down version, even though Gaga gives a great performance.

This is THE weakest lineup since the inception of Pop Solo, so Gaga was definitely name-checked based on the ASIB hype. I’m glad Camila’s last minute trick didn’t work with the voters in the end.

A Star Is Born definitely helped, but it’s more than just a name-check. There probably were a lot of voters familiar with the song since she performed it at last year’s Grammys, it was prominently featured in her Netflix documentary, and the album sold a healthy amount.

I’m surprised at the amount of people who think the album version is better than the re-release. I think the version that won Pop Solo is miles better than the original, it brought life to a song that was truthfully a lowlight of an excellent album.

I’m still completely flabbergasted that Taylor Swift missed a nomination in this incredibly weak year. I would have pegged her to win had she gotten the nomination… and instead, “Joanne” of all songs, pulls it off. 💀

Taylor Swift didn’t have acclaim, hype or domination this year- it’s not that weird, this was just a signal that Reputation had no chance in Best Pop Vocal Album

grammys are OVER taylor swift and her mediocrity.

Not so fast- they didn’t like Reputation and she had no hype or acclaim for it but she can turn things around with her next album like Gaga did with ASIB- she is still quite young and can easily score some hits if she makes smart desicions in her career, if she goes back to more adult-country she could get some recognition there in the future or also pop but today’s pop is so bland and uninspired, I am not her fan but I would really like to get the old country Taylor back in the game (more adult-orientedsomething similar to Shania Twain or Lady Antebellum style)

    This.

I just watched Gaga: Five Foot Two and the scene where she plays Joanne to her grandma for the first time would have been remembered by the voters who watched the documentary. The song has a powerful backstory.
