Will GaGa edge out Sheeran for his consolation prize?

It’s between Sheeran and Gaga. I give the edge to Sheeran.

    No GF nominees here interestingly.

Kesha will win for sure. Billboard has already marked her as their favorite. She has the biggest mark, 8.1 while Ed has 6.2 and gaga 6.7. Lana wont win but she has 7.8

A tricky one, after the Great Pop Shut-out of Grammys 2017… I don’t think Coldplay takes it for an EP that didn’t really garner any hits. Lana Del Rey is still too outside the mainstream, and has too many haters, to win for Pop Vocal Album. Also, it’s her only nomination. Imagine Dragons has a shot, but I think most people see them still as a Rock act.

That leaves Ed, Gaga, and Kesha. Although my head says Ed Sheeran, my heart is saying that Kesha’s narrative (her triumphant return to music after an abusive relationship) will leave the Academy wanting to reward her with something. Also, she’s the only one of the 3 who has never won before. Going with Kesha. Plus the album is actually pretty solid.

I do think Ed got the most votes in the first round and it’s just the blue pannel shutting him out. So I’d still go for Ed as the most likely winner here.

ED is by the most successful here, and will easily squeak out a win here (same with Pop Solo).

With Ed not getting in to the GF, he may not be the runaway victor of this category as previously thought. I would watch out for Lana Del Rey. However, his album was the biggest of the bunch with a huge single and other singles that performed well.

    Should Win: Lust for Life
    Will Win: ÷

It’s between Gaga and Sheeran. But I’m expecting much more revanchism among the voting base in favor of Ed Sheeran.

They will probably award him both awards, just because they feel betrayed by the BRP.

Ed has never won this category, unless you’re talking about all Grammy categories.

Another easy category to predict. Kesha has no chance. Coldplay will lose again. Lana Del Rey won’t factor. Lady Gaga’s nomination is her reward. Imagine Dragons had a good year. However, they won’t be able to touch Ed Sheeran. This will be Sheeran’s consolation prize for being shut-out of AOTY.

SHOULD WIN: None of the above
    WILL WIN: Ed Sheeran, ÷

Coldplay, Lana and Dragons won’t win.

Kesha could win if she didn’t have her other career behind her. I think she needed this to establish herself as a good artist first, she did it, got the acclaim and the noms and she’ll do better next time….maybe. The only thing I can see happening is the Jennifer Hudson scenario, she also won basically for going through something. So this could happen. At least she’s not dead last.

Gaga winning also makes sense. She’s still Gaga and she has won before. So it’s not crazy to predict her.

The problem for both Gaga and Kesha is that E Sheeran will keep getting press for being snubbed. Many will spin it as “undeservingly snubbed”, so the votes we already expected for him, plus the pity votes, plus the “hit album” votes, the huge song votes are still coming his way. He’s the logical prediction.

    Will win: Sheeran
    Should win: Gaga

This is where voters give Ed Sheeran his consolation prize for those huge General Field snubs. It also helps that he’s never won this category before. Pop Solo Performance will be a tougher category for him to win, even with being the sole male nominee.

I’m sure as hell Ed Sheeran won’t be attending.

It’ll be funny if he wins both awards and he won’t be there to accept them. I think it’ll be some sweet revenge.

Ed is a front runner in his 2 nominations. He will attend.
