Ed is a front runner in his 2 nominations. He will attend.

He will be invited but he won’t attend.

You have to realize that there’s a difference between Gaga and Sheeran for example. Every publication was predicting Sheeran to sweep. This is his most successful album to date. So it’s a major ruthless snub against him. He was intentionally shut out of the race, whereas Gaga for example has no reason to be mad since she didn’t even try hard with Joanne and probably wasn’t expecting majors nominations anyway. So as her social posts reflect, she’s not bothered at all. When it comes to Ed Sheeran, complete silence so far.

Although I am a little monster, I think Ed will snatch this for sure.

The chance to win : Divide>Rainbow>Joanne>>Evolve>>>the rest

    Should Win: Divide (Ed Sheeran)

    Will Win: Divide (Ed Sheeran)

Divide will win and no other contender comes close. Even though the album may not be as good as Multiply, it still has quite a number of very decent songs that were commercially successful. All the singles from the other albums flopped commercially (except Evolve – but the totally redundant nominee Coldplay may steal votes from Imagine Dragons).

Lorde definitely should’ve been here instead of Imagine Dragons or maybe even Lana. I’m gonna go with Divide winning with Joanne possibly pulling an upset (especially since she was a frontrunner for SOTY and wasn’t even nominated there).

They snubbed Ed already. They could easily ignore him again. I can’t say Ed’s winning is a lock in this category after saw his being snubbed in general field.

They may give him as a consolation just like they did to Bruno Mars in 2014. But I’m not sure of even this.

    This year will be interesting.

I’m sure as hell Ed Sheeran won’t be attending.

It’ll be funny if he wins both awards and he won’t be there to accept them. I think it’ll be some sweet revenge.

Coming into conflict with the Grammys wouldn’t come in useful for Ed. Protesting them won’t change their future opinions since Ed doesn’t have an essential effect in the industry.

When Swift went home with empty hands in Red era, she didn’t protest it, but working hard for the next album. She managed to rule the year and they couldn’t deny that success. This should be what Ed should do.

If he won’t attend dispite he can or do something else to protest it, they won’t simply care.

@neverkneel The Academy did not snub Ed Sheeran. The BRP did. Basically what happened was a 12 members sat around the table and decided to shut out the most successful artist this year to pander to the media and avoid another Adele v. Beyoncé scenario. Pop Artists who are liked by the Academy for sure can be found in the Pop, Rock categories and others who are decided by the popular vote rather than the reviews committees.

What do the Pop Categories show us? The Academy’s picks are Ed Sheeran, Gaga, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Imagine Dragons & Kesha. If the BRP did not suppress the Academy’s votes this time, we would see at least one or two of those in the General Field.

Long story short: Ed Sheeran being snubbed by 12 members who have clearly been lobbied, should not be read as any indication that the 12,000+ members of the academy who usually vote spontaneously will follow suit. If anything it’ll be the opposite.

And also, Taylor Swift had no reason to protest the Grammy’s at all. Her album was flawed and she still got nominated for AoTY. Her not winning AoTY was decided by the 12,000+ members of the Academy. It’s hard to argue they’re all biased against her or conspiring against her.

Ed’s case is different. His snub come as a result of a conspiracy perpetuated by 12 members of the Academy, who shut him out solely for the fact that he is a white artist likely to make it hard of artists of color to win this year. He has every right to protest, like Justin Timberlake did. And the voting base will fully understand and still vote for him in the future.

So what the BRP is been tweaking nominees for 20 years and considering how you feel about urban music ,we know you wouldn’t be so pressed if they snubbed him for a random white dude Like Sam Hunt or Macklemore

And IMO Sheeran didn’t deserve to be anyway near Album and Song of the year. So Shape of you was only snubbed in Record of the year just like Closer, One Dance, We Found Love et all

@RRaW you said it yourself, “tweaking” not coming up with their own list instead.

When was the last time the best-selling album of the eligibility period was snubbed? I can’t think of any year that happened.

What happened this year is a dangerous precedent. I just hope that it won’t happen again.

Also your assumption about me being okay with a hypothetical kendrick snub are delusional and unfounded. If anything I remember in the music preference thread back in the day, I included his album as one I would nominate in AoTY category if I were a member. Am I a fan of the album? No. Does it need to be nominated? Yes.

And by the way, I only liked “Same Love” that doesn’t make me a Macklemore fan. And yes Sam Hunt’s Montevallo (if that’s what you were refering to) was a masterpiece. In a perfect world, he would’ve received an AoTY nomination.
