I’m feeling Nas here, finally getting his Grammy.November 24, 2020 at 8:30 pm #1203869918
1. King’s Disease
2. A Written Testimony
4. Black Habits
5. The AllegoryNovember 24, 2020 at 8:41 pm #1203869970
I want Alfredo to win badly, but it looks like Nas is finally gonna get his due. He deserves a Grammy and I think sentimentality is really gonna be on his side. Still, praying for Alfredo.November 24, 2020 at 9:14 pm #1203870061
Nas deserves it. Not only was King’s Disease the best Hip Hop album of the year, It sets a good precedent for the Academy to acknowledge that Hip Hop has evolved past the stereotype of being a “Youths only” genre. Nas, Jay-Z, Common, etc should be getting Grammy nominations well into their 70’s the way Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, and Herbie Hancock did.
Nas, as a 30 year veteran (He debuted at 17) is a perfect example of an artist who has successfully maintained a position at the forefront of the genre, constantly reinventing himself, and representing Hip Hop with dignity and skill. King’s Disease also marks a milestone of Nas charting within the top 5 on Billboard in 3 different decades (the first rapper to achieve this)
Its no small fact to state that every one of the other artists nominated in the category owe Nas a huge debt for the inspiration and path he’s paved on their own careers. Nas was rapping poetically about Five Percenter Lingo long before Jay Electronica came on the scene. He was rapping over dusty soul loops long before Freddie Gibbs hooked up with Alchemist. He was spitting lyrical miracle bars over boom bap beats long before Royce Da 5”9”. He was speaking on the plight of Black America and all the frustrations that come with being a young black male long before DSmoke.
This should be Nas’s yearNovember 24, 2020 at 10:59 pm #1203870329
I am 90 percent sure either Nas or Gibbs wins. Freddie Gibbs is most deserving, but Nas also had a good project and is so overdue. I would guess Nas would win, but I’m pulling for Freddie. I want Nas to win a Grammy, but only one I think he truly deserves. Jay Electronica and D Smoke are tied for third most likely. All in all, these are one of the Grammy’s best rap album contenders. I believe they are gradually getting better.November 25, 2020 at 5:06 am #1203871068
Honey, the legendary Nas will finally win his first Grammy. YAY!
SHOULD WIN: Nas, King’s Disease
WILL WIN: Nas, King’s DiseaseNovember 25, 2020 at 5:37 am #1203871145
Nas or Freddie Gibbs. I’m really cool with both of them.November 25, 2020 at 5:58 am #1203871209
Nas needs to finally winNovember 25, 2020 at 9:40 am #1203872185
Nas deserves to win after his all of his years in the business with little recognition. He’s the biggest vet and only true legend here. If Nas can’t win in this lineup, then he’s never winning.
Jay Electronica can spoil, but I do remember him getting criticism from fans for his album being dominated by Jay-Z, who can ironically help him in this race.
Name recognition and popularity matter here, and I think Nas will reign supreme. Nas for the win!November 25, 2020 at 10:49 am #1203872390

I think what keeps Jay Electronica from getting the “Jay-Z” stimulus vote is that his name is NO WHERE on the album, not even as a featured artist. He didn’t even get the Only Built For Cuban Linx “Guest Starring” type credit. So for those just voting based on name recognition that album doesn’t really benefit.
This SHOULD be Nas’s award to lose by all rightsNovember 26, 2020 at 7:56 pm #1203876411
Alfredo is the best album there by some distance and deserves to win. Nas is overdue for a Grammy though, so I think this is a two-horse race between Alfredo and King’s Disease.November 26, 2020 at 8:45 pm #1203876558
Are we underestimating D Smoke? 🤔November 26, 2020 at 9:45 pm #1203876662
