At least from all the set ups, this is the one that I actually like with Nas winning his overdue Grammy, in a category where he should’ve won multiple times before.
ReplyCopy URLNovember 30, 2020 at 5:20 pm #1203885847Honey, this is the only setup I like as well. Major Nas fan! I do NOT live for the setups in the General Field and R&B (BARF!).
ReplyCopy URLNovember 30, 2020 at 6:09 pm #1203885944Interesting facts
At 47 years old Nas is tied for oldest person to be nominated for Best Rap Album. The other artist being Jay-Z for 4:44.
As Jay-Z lost that nomination if Nas wins it will
make him the oldest person to win in the category
At 44 Jay Electronica is the oldest first time nominee in the category
D Smoke is the ONLY artist ever nominated in this category whose album did not chart on the Billboard 200
This will be the first time that not a single nominee in this category has a corresponding song/album in contention for any other category.
December 3, 2020 at 5:22 am #1203891378Cool fun Fact
Nas is nominated for best rap album. He was nominated in that category back in the ‘90s, wasn’t he?
He was. Nas was first nominated for best rap album in the 1999 awards year for I Am…, which allows him to set a new record for the longest span of best rap album nominations (22 years). He swipes the title from Jay-Z, who was first nominated in 1998 (Vol. 2..Hard Knock Life) and was nominated most recently in 2017 with 4:44 (a 20-year span). Nas’ nominated album this year is King’s Disease.
December 15, 2020 at 1:03 pm #1203922842Nas’ King’s Disease for the win! It’s blasphemous Nas has not won a Grammy. Nas still sounding sharp and out rapping younger rappers. He’s truly the GOAT. King’s Disease is the most balanced album of the nominated albums.

Alfredo is EXTREMELY limited in subject matter because Gibbs is an extremely limited MC. He’s very very GOOD at what he raps about but it gets repetitive very quickly.
King’S Disease, like Life Is Good before it, is an album that will continue to grow and be appreciated with time. Nas was speaking some real grown man rap on that album, plus his messages if upliftment to black men, mixed in with the superb storytelling always refreshing lyrical dexterity makes it a really special project
ReplyCopy URLDecember 18, 2020 at 7:25 pm #1203931406Give Nas his first Grammy. It is absurd that we have to say this. He should’ve been a winner a long time ago.

He won’t not this timeDecember 19, 2020 at 3:53 pm #1203933153Alfredo definitely the best album there followed by A Written Testimony. The fact that Nas fan needs to use his legend status and overdue card to justify his win really tell us tho no offense.

It wouldn’t be the first time a legend status has taken someone to their first, second or even third win. King’s Disease isn’t a panned album and has had more chart success than the others. Nas deserves a Grammy, and I would be totally fine with him winning over these contenders, who aren’t even a representation of Hip Hop in 2019/2020. His biggest competition is Jay Electronica, and despite the critics’ forced reviews, many Hip Hop fans did not like that album.
Good luck to Nas. If he doesn’t win, it certainly wouldn’t make or break him.
