Love and War is probably my favourite of the last decade. Tamar did her thing with that era, and I still can’t believe she didn’t win a Grammy for it. This current Jazmine Sullivan era too is crazy good.

    Others:
    “Aaliyah” – Aaliyah
    “Full Moon”- Brandy
    “SweetSexySavage” – Kehlani
“Wall to Wall” – Chris Brown
“Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart” – K. Michelle
“The Emancipation of Mimi” – Mariah Carey
    “Confessions” – Usher
“Calling All Lovers” – Tamar Braxton
    “Secrets” – Toni Braxton

I love R&B music in general and the best R&B album in history is obvious choice; Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On. I could say other Marvin classics like Let’s Get it On, Here My Dear and Trouble Man.

I also can’t forget Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life. Janet Jackson made some undeniable classics like The Velvet Rope, Rhythm Nation 1814, Control.

    Rest in Peace MF DOOM

    Rest in Peace DMX

Unpopular opinion: Damita Jo belongs in the conversation with Janet’s classics. It’s not an iconic album or era by any means. But it’s a damn good R&B record. “R&B Junkie”, “Slo Love”, “Spending Time with You”, “I Want You”, & “Moist” are the ish.

“The Emancipation of Mimi” has so many gems. “Your Girl” one of her best songs ever created.

Mine Again should’ve won Best Traditional R&B Perf but Aretha’s version of “A House Is Not a Home” was just extraordinary.

I would’ve personally given Fantasia Traditional for “Summertime” that year but Mariah sang “Mine Again” DOWN! One of her best R&B tracks ever. The Emancipation era should’ve won at least 5 Grammys smh.

No greatest R&B Album list is complete without Aretha’s I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You. “Respect”, “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man”, “Dr. Feelgood”, the title track…classic after classic song.
