Who will win 2017 Grammy for Best R&B Performance?December 14, 2016 at 9:22 am #1201969431
I know that I’m going out on a crazy limb here with this prediction, but it’s the only crazy chance I’m taking prediction wise this Grammy season.
WILL WIN: “Cranes in the Sky,” Solange
SHOULD WIN: “Cranes in the Sky,” Solange
FRONTRUNNER: “Needed Me,” RihannaDecember 14, 2016 at 9:33 am #1201969446
I don’t like how this so-called committee put one top 10 hit here against a bunch of songs that only got airplay from adult R&B radio stations. “Needed Me” is nowhere near the best R&B performance of the year. I’m predicting it to win here, but it would be awesome if Solange joins her sister as a Grammy winner. “Cranes in the Sky” would be a worthy winner. “Permission” is my favorite track nominated.December 14, 2016 at 10:25 am #1201969503
Agreed. It’s like they knew what the best performances of the year were, because they’re nominated, but it feels like they also wanted to be lazy, so they included Rihanna as an easy way out.
I love “Permission” and “Cranes in the Sky” so I’d be thrilled if either of those won. But if I had to pick one, my money would be on Solange. The album is still highly-regarded and talked about, and is landing on year-end critics’ lists left and right. Not to mention, she’s Bey’s sister.
I’d ‘like’ a photo of the two of them standing together holding their Grammys in the pressroom a gazillion times.December 14, 2016 at 10:31 am #1201969513
Cranes In The Sky is beautifully written. My bet is Rihanna will prevail again here with “Needed Me”, this category is usually given to the bigger hit/the bigger artist.December 14, 2016 at 10:51 am #1201969535
We can eliminate Musiq Soulchild immediately. BJ The Chicago Kid scored multiple nominations. However, he won’t win here. Ro James’ track is amazing. Ro lacks the star power to win. Solange received a lot of praise and could upset. Rihanna has the biggest hit and name recognition. Plus, Rihanna received 8 nominations. Unfortunately, Rihanna wins.
SHOULD WIN: Ro James, “Permission’
WILL WIN: Rihanna, “Needed Me”December 17, 2016 at 2:39 am #1201971275
since this category came back 6 years ago, it was won by the well recognized artist with most Grammy wins to date. if a song charted on mainstream pop airplay chart, that’s an additional reason to win for a song.
so, unfortunately, Rihanna is winning here despite more dersving contenders like Solange & Ro James.December 22, 2016 at 1:41 pm #1201973800
Needed me all the way!!!!!!!????February 3, 2017 at 10:44 pm #1202002641
Paul Grein is predicting Rihanna to win Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.February 3, 2017 at 11:51 pm #1202002659
I am sensing an upset. The R&B Categories have been all over the place lately.February 4, 2017 at 8:22 am #1202002756

I’m sensing a small chance Solange may win.
If they didn’t award Tamar Braxton, they shouldn’t award the minimally talented Solange either just because she is Beyonce’s sister.February 4, 2017 at 9:58 am #1202002808
Cranes in the Sky should win but it’ll be the overplayed Needed Me.February 4, 2017 at 12:01 pm #1202002875
I could see Solange taking this. It’s the most acclaimed and important song in the category. And Solange herself had an amazing year being the 2nd most acclaimed female artist of 2016, after Beyoncé.
Ro James winning would be great too, but he’s probably in 5th place.
