Solange is artistically way more interesting than her sister…

If Solange got a nomination for Urban Contemporary Album then she would have won here. The Grammys will reward Rihanna in the R&B Categories for not giving her a AOTY nomination.

All of this Solange talk is giving me 2011 Janelle Monae flashbacks.

The delusion of Gold Derby is sometimes VERY real.

Critical acclaim does not automatically equal a GRAMMY win.

We should know this by now people. #GetItToTogether

    minimally talented Solange

She had one of the best albums of the year…

    Thats a highly subjective statement.

Well according to Metacritic and Pazz and Jopp, she did. Like someone said earlier, she’s the second most acclaimed female this year after her sister. I actually enjoyed it way more than Lemonade actually.

Calling her “minimally talented” is not only subjective, but stupid.

Solange’s vocals are very mediocre. I’m not so sure about her “talent” either.

Grammy voters do not care about Metacritic. Only Gold Derby does. Solange lacks the star power to win here.

I don’t really think she’s going to win either.

But I do have a problem with people calling her “minimally talented” or “mediocre.” That album was #1 on plenty of year-end lists including my personal one.

Neither Corrine Bailey Rae nor Snarky Puppy (w/Lalah Hathaway) had star power.

They weren’t up against a big star like Rihanna, though. But Solange is the next big name on the list, thanks to her big sister. She’s definitely the dark horse here.

NARAS threw Corinne Bailey Rae a bone because they shaded her in the General Field a few years prior. Snarky Puppy won because of Lalah HHathaway. Voters were playing catch-up with Lalah.

Solange just isn’t popular enough to take dowm Rihanna. Solange probably will come in second place due to Beyoncé.

Solange won here after all. This is like the first time an artist with star power lost this category. I like “Cranes In The Sky,” so I’m cool with her win.
