This category is so weird. I wanna predict “Kiss It Better,” but “Lake by the Ocean” is the most R&B thing here, and it’s great written song.
I don’t want to overestimate Rihanna in the R&B field, and I think Maxwell should win.
Flip a coin. “Lake By The Ocean” for the win, I guess.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 14, 2016 at 10:06 am #1201969480I’m so disappointed in how trash this category is this year. I know this is Maxwell’s only nomination, but “Kiss It Better” deserves the win the most and I think it has a fair shot at the win. Given wins in the last few years for “Drunk in Love” and “Pusher Love Girl,” it’s clear that voters don’t mind taking a detour away from more traditional R&B leaning tracks. Last year, “Really Love” won but it had an ROTY nomination on its side and all the tracks nominated for R&B Song last year were traditional in nature, so there was nothing to really steer the course.
Gonna go against my gut instinct (which says to play it safe & predict Maxwell) and go with Rihanna for the win. I won’t be surprised at all by a Maxwell win, though.
SHOULD WIN: “Kiss It Better”

WILL WIN: “Kiss It Better”
NEXT IN LINE: “Lake By The Ocean”December 14, 2016 at 10:29 am #1201969510I love the R&B nominations. Whoever wins this will win by a few votes, imo. My prediction goes to Kiss It Better with Lake By The Ocean being a close 2nd

When Miguel won, no Usher was nominated. Usher won R&B Performance over Miguel that same year.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 14, 2016 at 11:03 am #1201969551“Come and See Me,” “Exchange,” and “Luv” have no chance. It boils down to “Kiss It Better” and “Lake By the Ocean.” Rihanna will win elsewhere. Maxwell is a veteran that’s been under-rewarded. This is the only category that voters can vote for him. NARAS likes to play catch-up.

i must disagree. as an Urban song, ok. but as a R&B song, Lake By the Ocean is better.

well the Grammy committee didn’t think so, now did they?
ReplyCopy URLDecember 15, 2016 at 1:58 pm #1201970365“Kiss It Better” is a great song. And ‘Anti’ is honestly Rihanna’s best album to date. Glad NARAS saw fit to recognize her.
