Please gosh, let Glover win over Mars!November 28, 2017 at 1:44 pm #1202423631
Going with Bruno, but I could actually see anyone but PJ winning here. This category can be unpredictable… but Bruno gets the edge for also being up for Song of the Year (and most likely winning).November 28, 2017 at 3:48 pm #1202423813
Glover will get his due in Traditional R&B and Urban Contemporary.
Bruno Mars will sweep the R&B field and will win one or two categories in the general field.November 28, 2017 at 3:54 pm #1202423818
It’s either Bruno or Gambino. Slim chance of a Khalid upset.
SZA’s chances are hurt by the fact that the committee went with Supermodel over Love Galore.November 28, 2017 at 4:35 pm #1202423879
We can immediately eliminate “First Began.” “Supermodel” isn’t competitive. “Location” could upset. The true race is between “Redbone” and “That’s What I Like.” Since, Bruno Mars is popular and up for SOTY, he’ll prevail.
SHOULD WIN: “Location”
WILL WIN: “That’s What I Like”November 28, 2017 at 4:42 pm #1202423881
“Redbone” has the most going for it and is the class of this lineup, so I’ll predict it for the win.November 28, 2017 at 10:20 pm #1202424158
I believe that if this were a General Field category, That’s What I Like would win. But somehow I see more support for Redbone among R&B field voters.
Anyway Bruno Mars has Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance locked. And Childish Gambino with Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary Album locked.
Kudos to Location for being nominated in this category as well! That’s What I Like, Redbone and Location have made the R&B field extremely lit this year!November 29, 2017 at 3:43 pm #1202424999
Redbone.November 29, 2017 at 4:48 pm #1202425020
I think Redbone would’ve been seriously competitive in SOTY – compared to the current lineup, it has a relatively low number of songwriters. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it win here.
Of course, if Bruno wins SOTY it seems obvious that he takes this tooDecember 3, 2017 at 10:57 pm #1202428715
I’m going with Redbone.December 3, 2017 at 11:18 pm #1202428719
Since the u-haul of categories, no artist in the R&B field has won Performance, Song and Album in the same year. Bruno Mars may lose Best R&B Performance or Best R&B Song.December 4, 2017 at 1:19 pm #1202429333
Redbone wins here easily.January 10, 2018 at 3:55 am #1202462988
Since 2011, no act has won Performance, Song, and Album in the same year within the R&B field. This makes me question “That’s What I Like.”
In 2003, “Dance With My Father” won SOTY, but lost this category to “Crazy In Love.” Bruno could win (AOTY), SOTY, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Album. While “Location” or “Redbone” wins here.January 10, 2018 at 12:18 pm #1202463425
Redbone is going to Win R&B Song. Bruno isn’t going to sweep the R&B Field. Bruno will win R&B Album and R&B Performance while Gambino wins R&B Song and R&B Traditional. I think Khalid will win Urban Contemporary Album.January 10, 2018 at 12:50 pm #1202463451
Bruno Mars shouldn’t sweep. I’m predicting “That’s What I Like” for R&B Song, but “Redbone” deserves the win, and I hope it happens.
I can see the R&B field going like this:
R&B Performance – Bruno Mars
R&B Song – Childish Gambino
Traditional R&B – Childish Gambino
R&B Album – Bruno Mars
Urban Contemporary – SZA
Khalid won’t win Urban Contemporary. A female has to win in the R&B field, and I think it will be SZA as that representation.
