This is my favorite category this year. Such a strong lineup of performances. I’m cool with any of them winning (besides William Bell), but my bet is on Lalah. She’s won this category the last two years consecutively, so she is the one to beat.

I think Lalah Hathaway will win for a third consecutive year. She won previously for “Little Ghetto Boy” from the same live album, and she’s up for an even more well-known classic, “Angel.”

Fantasia and Jill Scott are threats, especially Jill Scott. BJ The Chicago Kid and William Bell are just filler here.

Lalah is my prediction.

William Bell is too unknown to win. BJ The Chicago Kid won’t factor. Fantasia could spoil. Jill Scott poses a huge threat. Scott is a previous winner in this category. Look for Lalah Hathaway to win here for a third consecutive time. I hope not (* fingers crossed *).

WILL WIN: Lalah Hathaway, “Angel”

this is actually the best group of nominees in the R&B field this year.
it’s great to see William Bell receiving his first nom in the R&B field after over 50 years of making music, also “The Three Of Me” is a fantastic record.
the fight here is between Jill Scott & Lalah Hathaway, and i think Lalah will win once again.

Fantasia for me, although William Bell has ‘paid his dues’ during a very long career and may just be rewarded with a win here.

I never thought about William Bell being a threat here. He’s also nominated for Best Americana Album. He could get his due there.
