Adele’s winning streak finally came to an end on Sunday. Beyoncé broke the all-time wins record yet still lost AOTY. What do you think the future holds in store for these two Grammy favorites? Will Adele ever sweep again? Will Beyoncé continue to garner votes? Or will Academy members feel she’s earned enough? Discuss below.

Adele needs to make something different with her next album, some changes.

adele likely won’t sweep again, but overall im wondering if her next album will do better on charts than 30. beyonce will continue winning r&b and pop as long as she keeps doing eras like renaissance, however i think she could snag a few gf wins and even an aoty like a decade from now

Honey, Beyoncé will continue to win genre categories (mainly R&B).  Bey will NOT ever win Album of the Year.  Adele will sweep again with an album that sells well.

Bey’s strength in the R&B field is still a thing. She took 2/3 home and would’ve won R&B performance had she submitted Cuff It instead. They very much respect her.

It wasn’t a great night for Adele, but I suspect it was because 30 was so front-loaded. She’ll come back harder next time.

Adele should have submitted “Oh my god” tbh. Superior song.

I think Adele can sweep again with another era like 21 or 25. And Beyoncé will keep getting nominated and winning, but AOTY now I only see her winning with an extremely safe album, with fewer credits and years from now. Like what else can she do?

Unless Adele has a “Ray of Light”
Epiphany, it’s a tell tale sign they are done rewarding her for the “Easy on Me” type tracks.

Giselle?! They love her in the genre categories without a doubt. Sadly, that seeks to be where the buck stops..

Had panels still existed, Beyoncé would probably be snubbed imo. She’ll continue to win in R&B. But I doubt AOTY will ever happen for her unless it’s for a super safe Pop album. Adele could sweep in an extremely weak year, however, there’s likely fatigue with giving 1 artist 5-6 wins in 1 night.

It’s a shame that Beyoncé might never get AOTY, because she for sure deserves it with Lemonade and Renaissance. Those were definitely worthy. With rumors that the next ‘act’ of Renaissance is rock/country inspired, I do wonder what this means for her AOTY chances? But like others have said, I think she’ll continue to get awards in R&B and Pop.

Adele is a tricky one, she went from sweeping with 21 and 25 to just BPSP with 30. If she does stand another chance at winning GF categories then the next album needs to be a change in sound and direction, for sure.

Voters are well aware of the potential backlash with Beyoncé at this point, I think they might feel like the reactions surrounding her every time she’s in contention is like entitlement and they don’t wanna give into it. All these celebrities showering her with praise throughout the show doesn’t help either and clearly she knows this because she was trying to motion Lizzo to stop during her speech.

Another thing is I think they love to award those who play the game. Harry and Lizzo were everywhere promoting their material, Beyoncé wouldn’t even put out visuals. The credits thing is probably also a hinder, which sucks sampling is a large part of black culture so I hope she doesn’t feel like she has to stop to finally win. Overall I don’t know if she’ll ever have the chance again, but I would lean towards no because of these factors. Still, she should continue submitting to keep up with the record.

Adele won’t sweep ever again, but she might win something big if she releases something more innovative.

All this “Adele needs to try something new” talk is a bit funny since 30 is probably her most ambitious and critically acclaimed to date, yet it’s the album with the least amount of wins. Anybody who actually heard the album outside of “Easy on Me” knows this. So while I’ll be happy with a Renaissance-type album, it’s not a necessity for her to win big again. Massive commercial success above the rest is.

As for Beyoncé’s Grammy future, she will continue to be a consistent winner, but people need to end this “narrative” thing with Beyoncé because voters do not care as much as fans, critics and the media.

Where did Harry promote his material? I want a list (I’m talking during Grammy voting, either nominations or wins, I’m not picky).

I think Beyoncé is very much in the game and what truly hurt her chances was dropping the 30% rule at the same time as she released an album filled with samples interpolations and features. I actually don’t think Renaissance was as much in contention as people thought for this very reason.

I do think she came second, but mostly because looking at the nominees in hindsight, and knowing that Adele couldn’t even take BPVA, I don’t think the list was as strong as we believed in the beginning.

My guess is that Harry, Beyoncé, Kendrick, and Brandi were all possibilities and everyone else was a long shot.

I think that if Beyoncé had competed with a tighter (in terms of credits) album, she would’ve taken it. Voters seem to truly not want to credit a bunch of people for what’s supposed to be the most prestigious award. I do think all the hoopla made around her hurts her chances as well. And I would tend to agree that the entitlement thing is a pervasive thoughts by voters.

In terms of Adele, I think 30 wasn’t nearly as similar to 25 as people think, her problem is that her lead single and absolute biggest hit was basically a carbon copy of Hello and Rolling In The Deep, which meant that the entire era was represented by yet another piano ballad. The fact that the album was sonically innovative (for her) didn’t matter because its presentation card wasn’t, and the album was incredibly frontloaded and dead by the time voting happened.

If she released another 30 but was more clever when picking singles and actually pushed an era, I could see her winning multiple Grammys once again. She still managed to win BPSP above a total juggernaut like As It Was + the ROTY winner.

More nominations and wins. Hoepfully a AOTY win for Beyonce and more wins for both
