Voters are well aware of the potential backlash with Beyoncé at this point, I think they might feel like the reactions surrounding her every time she’s in contention is like entitlement and they don’t wanna give into it. All these celebrities showering her with praise throughout the show doesn’t help either and clearly she knows this because she was trying to motion Lizzo to stop during her speech.

Another thing is I think they love to award those who play the game. Harry and Lizzo were everywhere promoting their material, Beyoncé wouldn’t even put out visuals. The credits thing is probably also a hinder, which sucks sampling is a large part of black culture so I hope she doesn’t feel like she has to stop to finally win. Overall I don’t know if she’ll ever have the chance again, but I would lean towards no because of these factors. Still, she should continue submitting to keep up with the record.

Adele won’t sweep ever again, but she might win something big if she releases something more innovative.

I feel like Adele’s 2017 speech hurt them both. The voters were like “well Adele we won’t give AOTY to you again since you don’t appreciate it enough but we won’t give it to Beyoncé neither if we don’t feel it. You won’t tell us what to vote for.”

I think it’s ridiculous that the idea is basically “everyone needs to shut up about Beyoncé winning AOTY and then MAYBE she’ll win it”. If such a massive amount of people feel she deserves it, including actual recipients of the award… oh ffs I don’t even feel like typing out an eloquent rebuttal to that stupidity. Just know that shit is stupid and yet another way for award show stans to simp for the Grammys being political and petty.

Anyway, I got so engrossed talking about Beyoncé’s Grammy past, I forgot to speculate on her future.

I strongly suspect she will continue submitting, but stop attending. The fact that she announced her tour the week before the Grammys with presales beginning the morning after, was a/the AOTY frontrunner, and still didn’t bother to perform is very telling to me, and I’ve been watching her moves since 2006. This is the woman who used not one but TWO Super Bowls as tour announcements/advertisements.

We know she almost didn’t go in 2021 (and 2023 tbh) and, idc, that getup she wore in 2018 was a silent, disrespectful protest. A damn Black Panther purse two years post-Formation 🤣

(I really suspect she is moving away from unpaid appearances, period. She’s subtle about it, but it’s been clear since 2013 that she is WAY over the typical industry grind and is trying to focus on her own life and family. Now she’s 41 and been making uncharacteristic comments like “I will never push myself that hard again”, “I am on the other side of my sacrifice”. )

As for Adele, she will be showered in gramophones again the next time she doesn’t leave an album for dead and maybe if she doesn’t release the same song as a lead single for a third time.

    Both have already peak.

I am more excited to see who Grammys  build up to become it’s new darlings.

I’m sure one just won AOTY.

This reminds me of when Nicki said “If you can’t tell by now that there is a concerted effort to give newer artists things that they really don’t deserve over people who have been deserving for many years, then you’re not paying attention.” ki.

The only line in Adele’s speech that I felt would give some voters the ick was “Beyoncé is like Jesus fucking Christ”.

However, every trace of that phrase has been wiped from the internet so maybe voters did forget it.

Adele is notorious for not choosing words carefully during interviews but that was by far the most reckless she’s been. A huge majority of those voters are religious.

You sure? Cause those same voters voted this year for a song which was performed by  Sam Smith dressed up as Satan. But they are too religious to ever vote again for Adele cause she said that about Beyoncé?

Aside from that being an awfully weird trigger point for anyone in the music industry, I… don’t remember this and I watched that ceremony live on Twitter. I promise you if she said THAT, it would have been all up and down my timeline.

If anything about that speech would’ve pissed NARAS off at Adele, it probably wouldn’t have been the actual speech, but her breaking the actual trophy (whether intentional or not, most people who know about that think it was). And maybe when she said straight up that she voted for Beyoncé backstage.

She said this first at a concert.

Then at the Grammys which I remember perfectly. They scrubbed the internet clean of the Grammy edition.
Never expected it to be a problem as it was remedied properly, but I always had residual fears & reservations.

Well, John Lennon lost his life for something similar init? But I’m only deductively inferring.

The vast majority of voters are probably freaks behind doors, pedophiles, cokeheads, Trump supporters, bigots, etc.

Ofc, it’s more about people’s hypocrisy and tendency to judge.

Honey, I know this will NOT ever happen since voters have a hard-on for Beyoncé; voters need to cool it on Bey. She has at least 20 undeserved Grammys. Mary J. Blige should’ve won Best Traditional R&B Performance and Jazmine Sullivan should’ve won Best R&B Song.

Girl Give up the delusion i already told u in the R&b thread that BEYONCÉ will win Traditional R&b and y’all were so sure Mary was gonna take it lmao….she deserves every single grammy win and will continue to Rake them in….
