Confident – or, better said, Demi Lovato- is closer to what they like. She had performed the year before she got a nom, and she’s a powerhouse vocalist, which the like. Selena Gomez’s music is a bit basic.

I mean Confident was painfully basic and they only nominated her because of Stone Cold.

Melodrama also getting just an AOTY nomination was so weird

Any black artist prevented from winning AOTY all these years despite having the most acclaimed albums of the decade.

I would say Kendrick – TPAB , Beyoncé – Lemonade , and Kendrick for DAMN deserved AOTY. Last year Kacey’s win was actually deserving I was rooting for her and Janelle .

Demi also has basic music but she at least can sing. They were already scraping the bottom of the barrel to get 5 nominees, so if it came down to two basic pop singers, it’s not that big of a surprise that they went with the one who can actually hold a tune.

That Pop Vocal lineup was so weak. Purpose and 25 were blockbusters but neither is really a standard of quality, Dangerous Woman is my favourite out of those but it really isn’t Ariana’s best work, and This is Acting and Confident are painfully mediocre.

Demi actually showed quality work with TMYLM. Her best album and the others seem so average or with fillers.

I wanted to point out Britney should’ve won more too . Blackout and ITZ ( her best works) should’ve won something ( Well i know Toxic won Best Dance Recording) but it deserved more . Especially with Blackout but she probably didn’t submit at the time since with the chaos in her life. She deserved more than just 1.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was ROBBED from an AOTY nomination (should’ve won as well) in 2011.

Kanye submitting 2 albums that year was a huge mistake.

i forgot  about that as well ! It was literally the best album of 2010. I wonder what went wrong there. He submitted Watch the Throne with Jay Z too ? Right . But yeah he should’ve focused on Twisted Fantasy he could’ve  did a clear sweep at the GF.

    Yeah.

Even if he was nominated, I don’t think he’d have won.

Aaliyah snubs: Record of the Year – “Try Again” Album of the Year – Aaliyah Best New Artist Best Female R&B Vocal Performance – “Miss You” Best Female R&B Vocal Performance – “One In a Million” Best R&B Album – One In a Million

PREACH! One of the most innovative r&b records of all time. She should’ve definitely won for ST . Idk why the Grammys appeal and love Alicia so much.

Options (Wolfjames Version) by Luke James should’ve ran away with Best R&B Song. It was clearly the best song nominated there, and it actually had good songwriting, unlike some other nominees…

    Also Robyn!
Album of the Year: Body Talk
Record of the Year: Dancing on My Own
Song of the Year: Dancing on My Own
And she should have won dance recording and dance electrónica album. Dancing on my own and body talk are iconic pieces of music from this past decade.
