Wanting gendered categories back = not moving with the times.

And when has any one gender been at a disadvantage just because of non-gendered categories? It has been said countless times on this board, but no one has ever given a perfect example of this.

Better to add a best pop song category instead of gender-based categories.

Also, BNA should not be in the GF as it is too restricted; not all active artists are eligible, only “new” ones.

In fact, scrap it. I don’t really see what it recognises, just the biggest “new” artist of the year.

If they add Best Pop Song (to award writers), what would be Pop Solo performance’s purpose? Isn’t it be basically a version of ROTY but for the genre?

Performance would go the artist/performer. Song would go to the songwriter. Like every other category… unless you combine the two like the Christian/Gospel category, of course.

No need for gendered categories to come back due to reasons already well explained by several users here. A Best Pop Song category is way overdue though. I would also add a Best Traditional Pop Performance category. It feels weird seeing I Get a Kick Out of You and Butter in the same genre category.
