I know that 7 Rings has garnered a mixed reception on here, but it’s probably going to compete in the general field whether we like it or not.

I agree I believe that girls like you maybe 8-9 next week and Money hits number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Girls Like You” ties “Closer” by The Chainsmokers & “How Do I Live” by LeAnn Rimes as the second longest top 10 run in Hot 100 history of 32 weeks. It is just one week away from tying the all-time record.

Girls Like You need to gtfo out of the Top 10. It’s just massively fueled by radio at this point.

It’s #95 on Spotify, and before the Super Bowl performance, it hovered around #25 – #30 on iTunes. However, YouTube views also factor in with this ranking at #8 having more than 7 million views a week in the US.

The fact that Shallow would be top 10,maybe even top 5, with radio support.

This is why I no longer take radio seriously anymore. They don’t play what the general public actually wants to hear. Shallow has been in the Top 5 sales (and always somehow return to #1) on iTunes and its streaming has been stellar for a film that has been out since early October. That alone should’ve warranted radio support.

Thankfully it already went #4 during its release week so we can say it was a Top 5 single.

The public who listen to radio don’t want to hear “Shallow”. The song has had terrible radio call outs!

It sucks that Girls Like You will once again stay on the Top 10 after the Super Bowl….

First, it did not have terrible call outs. But it did have average ones, nothing superb. Look at Electricity, it ranks at the very last on the list, and yet, it was still able to go Top 15. Look at Sunflower, it has average call outs, similar to Shallow, and it’s going to hit #1 on Pop without a question. This is because its sales and streaming is stellar (and to extent with Post Malone being huge right now). Shallow has great sales and its streaming is not awful. In fact, it outperforms Electricity in ALL metrics except for radio. So, why did Pop drop it before it even went Top 20? There are several other examples I could compare it to, but I’ll bite my tongue for now.

I think Mediabase Call Outs are flawed. Just take basically every female song on Country. I cannot remember an instance when one of them was in the Top 10 on callouts (besides from Rich by Maren). Tell me how fair that is when  Country never gives female vocalists a chance to be played more than just Top 30/40? I’d really like to know how Mediabase gather their data for their call outs and if they could improve their system.
