Yeah, it’s a lock for a nomination. But the sales numbers are awful. Her label choked it with those poor single selections and letting her direct her own mediocre videos. They choked on her underrated original EP too. Took years for that to become popular. She needs a new team.

Let’s be real, the Grammys love Billie(at least so far). The only real threat (unless a surprise happens) comes from the other young Interscope Girl that is having a break-out year. To me it will come down to which Girl will be pushed. Interesting note: Last year, Billie didn’t get key Grammy push like 2019 and won 2 Grammys(incl. ROTY). So, even if the other girl gets the push, in the end voters may still vote for Billie. I want your thoughts on this.

They do love Billie. I predicted her AOTY on this board when Sleep first came out, and this board strongly disagreed at the time. Called me hyperbolic and “prisoner of the moment” if i recall correctly. I cant seem to find the post. Its my only post here ever until now.
This time around, I’m less confident about her winning. She’d get my vote if i had one. Olivias music doesnt click with me. Im an older dude. I dont know how Billie is able to make music i like, but Olivia and even Taylor Swift just sound like pop for teenage girls to my ears, while Billie doesnt. Grammy voters love swift too. Olivia is like her, and she re-popularized electric guitars, and has outsold Billie thus far. I’d say Olivia is a stronger contender at this point, and even stronger ones might still emerge.
I wouldnt say HTE has no chance though. But the surprisingly anemic sales and rapidly declining popularity are shocking to me. After her previous albums sales and all those awards, i would have predicted 750k+ first week sales for even a mediocre follow up album, which this isnt.

Outside of adele, nobody is getting 750k+ first week sales anymore.
I don’t think anyone has even cracked 300k yet this year

true. My expectations were too high, I’m not an expert on sales. But doing half what Olivia did on Spotify, and barely outstreaming Taylor doing a cover album of herself, seems to be a flop. Hopefully it has legs.

Billie already had 5 singles out and those stream doesn’t count on the weekly debut stream for the album so it was predictable
ReplyCopy URLAugust 6, 2021 at 3:59 pm #1204384777I think Billie’s Album is good and that it’s in for a big drop next week.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 7, 2021 at 2:19 am #1204385324HappierThanEver to debut at #1 on the US albums chart with 234K sold first week. Her second #1 album (via HITSDD).
Let’s see on Sunday if Billboard reports a bit more units.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 7, 2021 at 4:45 am #1204385363The Happier Than Ever single is estimated to debut at number #11. It’s early so it still could crack the top 10 when more final numbers come out, we’ll see.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 7, 2021 at 6:11 am #1204385413Happier Than Ever has now 86 on metacritic with 26 critic scores. This should be its score it seems. Most acclaimed commercial release of the Grammy year so far.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 7, 2021 at 8:09 pm #1204386487I liked imperatively better than WWAFAWDWG. Billie Bossa Nova is best of the year for me.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 8, 2021 at 11:51 pm #1204388095Billboard 200: #1(new) @billieeilish, Happier Than Ever 238,000 [113.87 million on-demand streams | 153,000 pure sales].
Good debut despite early low predictions.
ReplyCopy URLAugust 10, 2021 at 2:41 pm #1204390608Billie to spend second week no.1 with 77,000 units according to HDD.
