I never said the album has to be record breaking, I said that Fine Line was not an instant success like Uptown Funk so the comparison is ridiculous. I don’t think an album has to reach #1 to win a Brit, I think an album has to have a narrative. You say we’re going in circles and we are, because you purposefully misrepresent what I say. Fine Line, an album that was in its infancy and hadn’t done anything extraordinary nor had raving reviews (76 Metacritic), didn’t have a narrative to win in 2020. But the same album, after a year had passed, and didn’t leave top ten THE ENTIRE YEAR, became an album with a narrative. A peak is important for short-term (Uptown Funk), longevity is important for long-term (Fine Line). Your comparison of Fine Line (an album that by the Brits 2020 was doing good) vs Uptown Funk (a song that was off the bat godzilla big) is a flawed as Psychodrama (an album with 90 Metacritic that won the Mercury Prize and was the fourth best selling of the year) vs Wet Leg (an album with 87 Metacritic that was shortlisted to the Mercury Prize and didn’t make top 50 best selling). Furthermore, the actual comparison for Psychodrama (2020’s Wet Leg) wasn’t Fine Line (2020’s Harry’s House). You just used Fine Line because Harry/Harry, to imply he was weak and could lose, which is why I showed you Psychodrama made more sense winning than Fine Line. The actual comparison for Psychodrama (2020’s Wet Leg) was DUHATE (2020’s Harry’s House). While commercially they’re pretty neck and neck, DUHATE has a 70 Metacritic to Harry’s House 83 and Harry’s House was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize while DUHATE wasn’t. So not only are Psychodrama and Wet Leg nowhere near on equal legs, but the disparity with the “obvious win” (DUHATE/Harry’s House) is greater for the latter. The only point I’ve been making is that Harry should win AOTY, not that he will. And that Psychodrama wasn’t out of left field while Wet Leg would be (which doesn’t mean they won’t or can’t win, them and The 1975 are Harry’s biggest threats, I’ve said this already). I think Harry should sweep, but won’t. That’s literally it.
I never mentioned Wet Leg or Harry’s House and never compared any of them or any Metacritic scores so no idea where you’re coming from, but you need to chill my guy.
Also no clue what your on about with DUHATE. But ahah there’s nothing left to discuss.

I‘m still undecided whether I think Wet Leg or Harry will win AOTY.

I can see Harry getting all 4 of his nominations. However, the fact that the BRITs actually televise all of their awards makes me think it would get very boring to see him give 4 speeches. I think British Album is his to lose, especially after winning the Grammy AOTY. Same with British Artist and Song, to be honest. The Best Pop Act category is fan-voted, but we all know his fanbase on social media is huge so I’ll be shocked if he did lose that one, to be honest. Unless Dua wins?
I think Lizzo has International Song of the Year in the bag. She won the Grammy ROTY for it, and she is also going to be in attendance, so it seems likely. I see International Artist going to Beyoncé.
Best New Artist will probably go to Wet Leg, although I would love to see Rina get it!

I am currently undertaking PhD research at Aberystwyth University Business School and would be grateful if you could please take the time to complete an online survey based on these types of ticket VIP/Hospitality packages. Further details can be found on this link:

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 10, 2023 at 5:33 am #1205299211I just saw Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles co-writer) won Songwriter of the year. Wondering if Harry’s House is going to win AOTY then.

I don’t see him sweeping neither, but I’m not sure about Unholy winning over As It Was.February 10, 2023 at 5:58 am #1205299226So many clowns still thinking Harry won’t sweep even though this just happened.
The winner of Songwriter of the Year is… @kidharpoon 🔥

Harry is the first British male soloist to win AOTY at the Grammys since Eric Clapton 33 years ago, and you think he’ll lose Best Album at the BRITS to ANYONE, let alone Wet Leg? He just beat Adele and Beyonce.

February 10, 2023 at 9:53 pm #1205299935Harry is sweeping just like Adele last year unless they want to spread the wealth to Sam’s Unholy for more inclusivity.
