I’m excited for Butter because as a BTS fan, I like seeing them succeed, point blank. I will admit that I don’t think this song is going to be on par with their Korean music and will probably be another random collection of English lyrics that might be too corny or not meaningful enough and you know what? I’m ok with that.

BTS’ Korean discography is incredible. So incredible that it’s garnered them international success and the largest, most active fans base right now. I am ok with getting fun, meaningless summer bops as long as their craft and artistry is still pushing through on their Korean tracks.

I’m so shocked about the criticism to their lyrics when they have so many beautifully written songs. Not mad though, everyone has preferences, I’m just surprised since I always found they have some clever lyricism in Korean, specially when you read commented translations like the ones on muish’s website. They can go from funny, cheeky wordplay to actual poetry to emotional confessions and agressive and raw lyrics, it’s a very rich discography lyric and theme wise as well.

But moving on, the rolling stone article with them was such an interesting and well written piece. I love it when they get to speak more deeply and expose their thoughts and feelings beyond superficial questions. They boys are thoughtful and smart and they have so much love for what they do (and for each other, Jimin had me soft). I also think the article showcased their impact in a great way, in the social, cultural and even financial areas. I felt so proud and excited reading the piece. Also gave us some hints for our upcoming summer hit Butter, I’m curious now seeing the Bruno Mars reference. And they look gorgeous and mighty in the pictures, they really are huge aren’t they?

(Edit: gonna leave the link to muish’s blog here since it’s my favorite place to read about BTS’s lyrics, made me appreciate them even more https://muish.wordpress.com/bts-directory-of-ramblings/ )

I think I don’t like most lyrics in general because I am paid to scrutinise word choices for a living. Today I spent twelve hours straight combing through over 100 uses of the word “it” to see whether or not a less vague signifier could be used. I know I’m picky.

The article was great 🙂 I love it when Western media actually gives them respect.

Wow that must be tiring. I imagine because you see words in many of the possible ways they can be used, it probably kills a little of their enchantment and power

Hence why non-english music can connect with me in this strange and powerful way, as I can connect with the passion and message without words getting in the way!

Butter is a pure, swaggering dance-pop celebration in the retro vein of Bruno Mars, with layers of Jam and Lewis-style synths and boasts of being “smooth like butter” and having a “superstar glow.” “It’s very energetic,” says RM. “And very summery…. “

Yes! Muish is amazing, everyone should check her out.

I really really liked both the RS cover and the story. I thought it was a great article for fans but also very accessible for non-fans. And i’m so glad they included a description of Butter that i can actually understand lmao Now i think i finally know what to expect from the song at least. I’m still a little confused about how all the different aesthetics will come together for the MV.

The amount of promo for them this era! I’m so excited to see the boy in Friends, it’s probably gonna be a short appearance but it’s still a huge things for them to be involved with and Namjoon’s gonna have a blast

    POSSIBLE SPOILER:

I’ve seen theories on twitter that they will go through more than one floor in the elevator and different floors are different concepts

That Rolling Stones article was so well done, it’s what they deserve! With this much promo they’re setting themselves up to be everywhere once again, and who knows what else is to come. Maybe the Friends appearance will foreshadow more HBO Max content as well

Makes me curious what their campaign will look like this year

Did you guys see Lil Nas is releasing a single next week? What the hell is Columbia thinking?

I saw people worried about radio and playlisting, but to me Columbia sending a dozen trucks to promote Butter says a lot about where the focus is. They probably just want another “Label with the most #1’s” thing again like last year

Great, another “summer” song while I’m huddled under a blanket freezing lol

I prefer my butter melted and oily, but I’m still excited for the song 😉 let’s hope this song is as much fun as it sounds like it’ll be
