Yeah I know it’s kinda yikes but their lyrics are so corny I don’t like them. I’ve never felt welcomed as an army because I think their lyrics are awful. The concepts behind the lyrics are usually great though. They’re still in my top 5 most streamed artist of all time so I love listening and will continue supporting them.

I’m sorry what 💀 BTS’ lyrics are their strongest point, maybe you’re reading wrong translations

No offense intended at all, truly, it’s just hard to understand not appreciating, for just one example, a song like Spring Day for it’s totality of brilliantness. The emotion, the symbolism, how very bold and in the delicate manner they had to handle putting out such a song to begin with. I could go on for days, song after song that have touched my heart, provoked my thoughts, educated me on the world’s cultural differences (Baepsae!). They have addressed so many social issues. I love many artists, the ones that make me feel I love the most. I love Bangtan. As for Dynamite, I don’t dislike the song but it’s not among my faves. Makes sense tho, except for some lyric changes necessary to make the song work in a group concept they did not write it and we must always remember that English is nowhere even near their first language. I appreciate Dynamite more however as the album closer for BE. It put the we can & will enjoy all the small things life after Covid punctuation mark on the piece. Ahhhh…. BE is such a beautiful album. Anyway, topic done for me, we are all different.

Looking forward to their first public performance of Butter on the BBMAs!

If you’re a casual listener and don’t care about their lyrics that’s totally okay! I don’t know spanish and i still listen to Bad Bunny sometimes lol. But it’s not like his lyrics are his strongest point, you know? That’s different for BTS. And if you are upset about clothes and hairstyles i’m assuming you are more than a casual listener. Anyway, maybe, like you said, you just don’t understand them. In that case though, i’d refrain from saying their lyrics are bad because that just makes you look kinda… Well, i’m not gonna repeat what you said, but yeah.

I’m a casual listener but I’m very excited for Butter. No hate at all but I wasn’t a huge fan of dynamite, it just fell short to their past work. Kudos to them for the success though. I really hope butter is in the same vein as their songs with a darker concept. Atleast the teasers gave me hope for one. Hoping it’s something like Blood sweat & tears. ^^

Considering they described it as a dance pop summer song i’m guessing it will not sound anything like BS&T. And in any case, BTS doesn’t tend to repeat themselves.

Ironic if you to mention Baespae as the song was just referenced in the new Harvard Law Review

Butter Spoiler* A dj said that Usher is mentioned in the song. So will the song go something like I’m smooth like Butter? Smooth like Usher?

    Pause . . . Usher? 😗

    I’m afraid not 😭 I’ll accept y’all thinking I’m stupid but I just can’t appreciate their lyrics.

I don’t think you’re stupid, you just left us all baffled lol. I think it’s the first time I see someone say they don’t appreciate their Korean lyrics, recently I even saw a Harvard study cite Baepsae for its societal commentary

(I can’t quote the other comment about HBO Max, but in my dream world they would release a documentary focusing on their creative process + add some backstory since their trainee days, their rise to the top is actually pretty crazy as it is. BTS are such an enigma, it never fails to amaze me the amount of people that genuinely believe they are industry plants and/or your typical slave contract Kpop group. It would help change their image a bit if people could see how hardworking and involved they are in their craft.)

Thanks for highlighting this here! I think we can agree that Silver Spoon / Baepsae is a subversive masterwork of a song….and the choreo, SO on point. While all that thrusting certainly leaves ARMYs screaming sweating & falling out in the aisles it is the big brave bold FU to societal class structure and the thoroughly damaging disadvantages such structures perpetuate. What a rich discography they have created.

All that said, I still expect Butter to be a fun summer bop primarily intended to wreck the charts and as for it’s part in the upcoming album, we’ll see. I just know I enjoy the hell out of the ride they keep us on.

Baepsae top 5 BTS songs at least. She’s so iconic.

I understand the lyrics, and I think they have beautiful meanings, but I’m “yknow” against my fellow Asians because I don’t like their word choices? Got it.

I love what their lyrics mean I just don’t like the specific words they use. I don’t think any of you understand what I’m saying… I hope you guys don’t think I’m saying they aren’t artists or that they don’t work hard??? I’m not a hater or an anti. I can dislike their hair and their lyrics and still love their music and them as people.

Omg the documentary rant wasn’t directed at you, someone else just brought it up and I rambled about it because I’ve dreamed of it for years lol. I wanted to quote their comment but it didn’t allow me for some reason

And of course you’re entitled to your opinions and to consume artists any way you prefer. Hope I didn’t offend you either
