My Universe is a great song seriously. The combination of Korean and English and their voices gave it flavor. I hope it gets traction because it definitely does sound like a hit and it’s already stuck in my head. But just to get such a good song and see the tannies excited about working with Coldplay already makes me so happy, both groups meshed together so well. Chris is a sweetheart, did you see him singing the Korean verses?

ReplyCopy URLSeptember 24, 2021 at 8:34 pm #1204484531BTS is currently the 2nd most streamed artist on Spotify this year! And they did this without an album release in 2021.
Most streamed artists on Spotify in 2021 so far:
#1 @sanbenito 7.3B
#2 @BTS_twt 6.24B
#3 @justinbieber 6.14B
#4 @Drake 6B
#5 @taylorswift13 5.81B
#6 @theweeknd 5.33B
#7 @ArianaGrande 4.88B
#8 @JBALVIN 4.78B
#9 @Olivia_Rodrigo 4.69B
#10 @JuiceWorlddd 4.27B— Spotify Daily Data (@spotify_data) September 25, 2021
Drake will overtake by the end of the year but they should easily be #3 or #4 and that’s so impressive for not having an album out, not being a western artist, and their biggest market (Korea) not using spotify as their main streaming service.
Also, part of me is really happy the #1 most streamed this year on spotify is a non-english act.
Although I don’t have the numbers in front of me, BTS should finish either 1 or 2 for the most streamed artist this year overall (amazon, apple, Spotify, youtube).

ReplyCopy URLSeptember 28, 2021 at 10:24 am #1204490549@Gen @avantaegard, i see you guys comments on the pop field thread re: people on this site disrespecting the boys. let me tell y’all that is not the first nor will it be the last time that it happens.
also that “stoop to their level” comment was just atrocious. i did not reply to it because there is no way they think that BTS are doing some kind of illegal thing w their website sales.
if we want to talk about fraudulent #1s, then let’s mention the countless times western artists have tried to inflate their sales w merchandising, candy, and condoms + a download link to the song, or let’s talk about how people tried to use VPN to push US sales that got actually filtered by BB. remixes are not something new, but it seems a problem when armys buy the remixes and show a good outcome.
anyways, i think there is no point on arguing w people who don’t have some sort of respect to another human being. they may not like BTS music which is fine bc you are not obligated to like every artist in the world, but at the end of the day, this is just a prediction and discussion site. the ones who have the final saying are the RA members. so let’s wait and see.
ReplyCopy URLSeptember 28, 2021 at 12:46 pm #1204490889Me – “I think BTS is making it in pop/duo because they’ve had great American promotion this year in different areas, not just music and have created a brand for themselves in America. But y’all hate them so much you can’t see that and refuse to take that into consideration when making your predictions. ”
The forum – HOW DARE YOU! BTS is the most inorganic band EVER blah blah blah blah blah etc etc etc etc sales manipulation, insults about fans, yada yada same old same old. They can only get in on a weak year blah blah blah blah.
Me – “95% of the songs and/or artists in contention for this years Grammys have or are doing the EXACT SAME TACTICS but nobody here is saying that’s going to hurt their chances. Because in reality, it doesn’t hurt chances at all.”
The forum – explode, no logic found.
Things are only a problem in these forums when it’s BTS. Shouldn’t have expected any less. BTS is literally outstreaming and selling more concert tickets in AMERICA than most of the artists said to have “organic success” in these forums. BTS is going to sell 280k tickets in ONE CITY in America. I’d love to see artists with “organic success” be able to do that. But we all know that outside of boomer bands, only Beyoncé and Taylor are capable. But to me, true success is having people buy your music, listen to it, and see you in concert. And guess what — BTS has all three in America.
You can critique butters chart performance as inflated but at the end of the day, it won’t have any impact on the Grammys because the song is still successful and the general public literally do not care. And the people in the music industry want a piece of the pie and want to know how BTS does it and gets fans so involved. They want a piece of the action, there is no desire to villianize them (unless your name is Billboard and in that case stop being a prick and change your own goddamn rules if you don’t like them). BTS was the main breadwinner for Columbia AND Universal this year and most likely will be for Warner too if MU does well. Now tell me, why the fuck would the music industry be against someone who makes them money? It’s because they aren’t. As long as artists/behind the scenes people get paid nobody cares. That’s how it works, like it or not.
If BTS doesn’t get a nomination it won’t be because of “chart manipulation.” It will be because of boyband bias – plain and simple. Nominations are often awarded because of NAME RECOGNITION and BRAND, not because of music or success (although the Grammy purists seem to think so). Success is honestly the smallest factor to a nomination unless you are unknown. BTS is not an unknown in America at this point – hence it is a small factor. A song of theirs can make no noise but they would still be in contention on brand alone, something I noted in the beginning they’ve been cultivating in America all year.
I know this was long but I needed to vent. Sorry for the halestorm everyone.

Going to take a break from the toxicity and this forum and I hope you all do the same.September 28, 2021 at 6:57 pm #1204491516Agree with multiple of your points! Even if you look in the dictionary the meaning of the word “fraud”, that does not reflect BTS’ 5 #1 songs. Website sales are not illegal and just like RM said, if Billboard was so bothered by this, then why don’t they change the rules?
Also, I saw a comment saying that you were attacking people for not having BTS on their predictions, and my question is: WHERE? All you said was your opinion that they are not missing BPDGP because of the chart performance and amount of promo coming up. There are multiple users here who don’t have Butter in the final lineup which is fine because they can predict whoever they want.

SAY IT LOUDER. I swear no one outside of Stan twitter and this forum cares about Butter sales. Also let’s not act as if Butter streams and sales are not reflecting demand. The song has literally around 600M streams on spotify alone in just 4 months after release same with YouTube. The song also has 3M Shazams.

No need to apologize! Because you spoke your mind. Take the time that you need to come back. I’ve actually been very IA because of my studies and work so I already don’t interact that much. Like I said, we don’t make the final line-up for nominations, is the RA members so let’s see what November has for us 🙂
