The permission to dance concerts sold out and they didn’t even go on general public sale.

.@BTS_twt is ending their distribution deal with Sony Music's Columbia Records and is headed to Universal Music Group, according to sources familiar with the situation. The new partnership is a licensing & distribution deal through Geffen/INgrooves/UMG.https://t.co/gVFAaKSuOf pic.twitter.com/SUuD5FHesH

Also, this is Olivia’s label. Interesting.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 21, 2021 at 5:50 pm #1204531263.@BTS_twt have sold over 10.4M units of albums and earned 10.6B on-demand streams in the US (via. @billboard)
Their total singles sales in the country stands at 78M units.

Hopefully UMG updates their RIAA units immediately (BE is still isn’t certified and it’s eligible for platinum)
78m song units + 10m album units in JUST the US.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 21, 2021 at 5:55 pm #1204531271How do you think this will impact their grammy chances?
ReplyCopy URLOctober 21, 2021 at 6:27 pm #1204531315As for their Grammy chances, may impact, may not. I don’t think it will, they have industry heavyweights still on the bus. They don’t need a Grammy, I know they want one, but they don’t NEED one, we all know that. If they are ignored again, doesn’t really matter. NEXT. Columbia, Ron Perry = GOOD RIDDANCE. This is such good news. Their sales, streams, WHO THEY ARE, KINGS, stratosphere with the next release. And they DESERVE, their Korean masterpieces DESERVE. Ron Perry dropped the ball thinking he could treat Big Hit, Bang PD & Bangtan like anything less than.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 22, 2021 at 6:51 am #1204531925I don’t think this will impact their grammy chances, but we might see. Ron Perry really dropped the ball by letting BTS go. However, I was waiting for the day they would finally say BYE BYE to Columbia because they did less than the bare minimum for them.
If this news about the change are true, then I can see Columbia trying to be shady, but it won’t work. They really lost the artists that gave them half of their #1s on 2020. Anyone with 4 fingers on their forehead would literally mock Ron Perry for losing the biggest boyband on the planet.

ReplyCopy URLOctober 24, 2021 at 9:29 am #1204536229Reviving this as we received confirmation of some submissions from BTS!
I will put the categories they reportedly submitted with the songs/album i believe were submitted
AOTY: BE
ROTY: Butter
SOTY: Butter
Best Music Video: Butter (but i’m praying they submitted Permission to Dance!)
Best Engineered Album Non-Classical: BEThe person who revealed this info did not include BPDGP and BPVA but we can assume they did submit to those categories as well. So considering this, BTS has submitted to 7 categories!
ReplyCopy URLOctober 24, 2021 at 10:57 am #1204536388i wonder why bts has never submitted in the best global album? i feel they could easily win that one
ReplyCopy URLOctober 24, 2021 at 2:09 pm #1204536703i wonder why bts has never submitted in the best global album? i feel they could easily win that one
Just because BTS is korean & sing in korean does not mean their music goes in that category. Global music album is for “non-European, indigenous traditions.” K-pop is a westernized genre and has been since it’s inception. It is also “pop” which originated in the west.
So BTS in global music would be category fraud. They are pop — just not in english.
ReplyCopy URLOctober 24, 2021 at 3:25 pm #1204536851oh that makes sense i was just wondering since maybe critics and i have seen some armys have talked about that
ReplyCopy URLOctober 24, 2021 at 4:26 pm #1204536951@Gen i asked Wanda for BTS and Coldplay submissions. We need to know this to see if My Universe was submitted or saved for next year.
oh that makes sense i was just wondering since maybe critics and i have seen some armys have talked about that
i don’t think critics have talked about bts fitting into the global performance/album category; but i did see some armys talking about it. just keep in mind that just because is in another language it doesn’t necessarily mean it will automatically fit into a global category. they have submitted to the pop field since 2018 and were never moved!
